The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is currently accepting online applications for a Water/Wastewater Service Worker with Water & Sewer Services. The employee performs intermediate skilled mechanical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of water lines, pumps, taps and mains in the water/wastewater system; operates GPS and control valves; does related work as required. Employees in this class perform detection, repair and maintenance on broken wastewater lines; installation of water/wastewater equipment; maintenance of equipment and supply inventories; all work is supervised while in progress and reviewed upon completion.
Requirements for Education and Experience: completion of high school diploma or equivalent; on the job experience is the most effective means for mastering the nature of tasks performed; generally one to three years of such experience is necessary to perform efficiently; general knowledge of construction, assembly and maintenance on a wide variety of plumbing equipment; supplemental training is desirable in the procurement of plumbing licensure; an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. Must possess a valid commercial driver's license, Class A (57) with Tanker endorsement, issued by the state of Tennessee. Pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening and background check required.
