We are seeking New York State licensed drivers who are looking to work evenings and weekends - this would be a great part-time job for a college student or someone with a full-time job looking to make some extra money in time for the holidays! Must be 18 years or older to qualify.
An Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) is part of a two-member team with an EMT, and is responsible for safely driving an ambulance to emergency and scheduled pick-up locations, transporting patients and emergency personnel, assisting in moving patients via stretchers, and otherwise assisting emergency personnel as requested. EVOs go through an extensive in-house training program, which includes the following: EVOC driver course, CPR & first aid, incident command and national incident management systems, hazardous materials, and field & driver orientation.
EVOs work at each of our stations in Schenectady, Albany, Troy, and Glenville New York. Room to Grow: EVOs in good standing are able to enroll into Mohawk Ambulance Service's EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) courses to promote into an EMT-Basic role with the company. Courses are free in exchange for 1 year of employment as an EMT with Mohawk.
Selection for weekend shifts is subject to seniority and shift bid process outlined in our Collective Bargaining Agreement.
