Description: The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Wellness Coordinator/Counselor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine ( CCVM ) provides veterinary professional and graduate programs leading to the DVM and MS degrees, and operates the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
The mental health and wellness program at the CVM is intended to help students understand themselves better, create and maintain satisfying relationships, improve their academic performance, and make healthy and satisfying career and life choices. The Wellness Coordinator/Counselor is responsible for student wellness programs at the CVM . Hence, the primary purpose of this position's responsibilities at the College of Veterinary Medicine is to enhance student success by providing direct clinical and counseling services, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of students. In addition, this position participates in wellness-related programs, courses, and activities. See for information about the CVM student population.
This position relates to the university mission by working with students to help them manage problems or skill deficits that may otherwise lead them to drop out of school or cause disruptions in other areas of the university. This position works collaboratively and cooperatively with community and university agencies that serve students. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Masters in Counseling, Clinical, Family Therapy, or equivalent from an accredited program. Obtain licensure in the state of Oregon within 18 months of employment, or as a Social Worker in the state of Oregon within 6 months of employment.
Requirements : Master's of Social Work, Master's of Counseling, Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy, Doctorate in Psychology, or similar degree from an accredited program. Licensure in the state of Oregon in respective discipline within 12 months of employment. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders for the effective delivery of services and programs. A demonstrable commitment and ability to promote and enhance diversity, and ongoing development of multicultural competence in working with diverse student body. Advanced knowledge of evidence-based counseling theory, brief therapy, psychological practices and methods. Ability to respond appropriately and in a timely manner to mental health emergencies. Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activities in a timely manner. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Ability to present in a variety of educational methods, including presentations, workshops, trainings, and individual behavior change sessions.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Type: The College's work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional after-hours meetings and/or weekend work. Developing a flexible and/or hybrid schedule may be possible to better meet the needs of the College and serve CCVM stakeholders.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with education, skills, and experience.
