Greater Somerset County YMCA seeks a dynamic, take-charge person with strong credentials and a solid wellness/fitness background to provide strategic direction and leadership to our wellness programming at our recently remodeled wellness center at our Hillsborough, NJ branch. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Wellness Director is responsible for the management of all day-to-day Wellness Center operations and programming to include oversite of all personal training, group exercise and floor supervisor staff to ensure high level of services and staff accountability in the Wellness Center. The Wellness Director also develops, plans, and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in support of our specialized programming to include active older adult, chronic disease prevention and LIVESTRONGand other programming.
Minimum 3 years of management experience overseeing wellness, group exercise, and personal training programs essential and possess knowledge of Exercise Physiology, Strength Training Principles and Technique, Exercise for Older Adults and Member Service. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have supervisory, leadership, interpersonal, communication and entrepreneur's attitude and skills to work well with staff and interact with membership.. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and develop staff. Demonstrated skills in sales, fundraising, public relations and programming for wellness initiatives. Incumbent should be able to administer fitness assessments and design fitness and group exercise programs. ACSM, NSCA, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required. Microsoft Office proficiency required.
