Position Title: WESM Music Director
Job Type: Staff
Position Overview WESM-91.3 FM, a public radio station on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and part of Delmarva Public Media, invites applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Music Director. Salary is $65,000 annually, with generous benefits including health benefits, retirement plans, life insurance, tuition remission, and paid leave.
Responsibilities
- Host daily music program (Mondays-Fridays) on WESM 91.3 FM
- On-air Jazz Hosting
- Track music with promoters and artists; report to Jazzweek.com
- Audition new releases and acquire music for library
- Ensure compliance with Music Rights agreements
- Produce timely features and interviews with artists for broadcast and website
- Assist with station production needs
- Represent station at community and/or station/University sponsored events
- Collaborate with Program Director/CCO to improve and evolve musical formats and selections
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- BA or BS degree
- Extensive knowledge of Jazz and familiarity with other genres (blues, world, soul, urban alternative, AAA, classical)
- Charismatic on-air personality, professional team player, and passionate media professional
Preferred Qualifications
- On-air, production, and broadcast experience
- Knowledge of public radio formats and ENCO automation
- Background in working with students and willingness to train and develop projects

- Musically diverse background with a vision for growing the sound of the stations
- Skilled in interviewing and fundraising
- Skilled in audio production
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
