Westwood - NJPTC Certified Basic Police OfficerHIRING ANNOUNCEMENT - WESTWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENTPOLICE OFFICERThe Westwood Police Department located in Bergen County is now accepting applications for the position of full-time police officer. Applicants must possess a Class 'A' basic police officer certification/license or be eligible for licensure from the New Jersey Police Training Commission. Alternatively, applicants must have successfully completed, graduated, or be enrolled in the Alternate Route Program from one of the 11 Commission-approved schools, or be a certified SLEO II who is eligible for a PTC waiver. All applicants must upload a current resume on the PoliceApp portal at the time of application to be considered for the position and begin the hiring process, which will start with departmental interviews.
Additional Requirements: Applicants must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey.Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.Possess a minimum of an Associate's degree, or equivalent in college credits (64) from an accredited college or university. In lieu of the educational requirement, the applicant must possess veteran's status and have been honorably discharged from the armed services.Must be of good moral character and not have been convicted of a criminal offense involving moral turpitude.Must be psychologically and physically fit to perform all the duties of a Police Officer.Must be able to read, speak, and write the English language.Applications are available only through PoliceApp and shall be completed no later than November 15, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time. Applicants will be required to have the PTC certification by the latest August 1, 2025, with no exceptions.
