NPVMC provides the most up to date medical campus in Southeastern Wyoming. In addition to a 24-hour emergency room, NPVMC offers advanced imaging including ultrasound, X-Ray, digital mammography, CT, Dexa Scan, and mobile MRI capabilities. The CAH features an inpatient pharmacy, laboratory services, and physical/occupational therapy. If hired as a Radiologic Technologist you will work independently in performing mainly CT Imaging with assistance in radiographic exams with fluoroscopy. Will collaborate with radiologists, providers, and other staff to trouble shoot any problems while providing an improved patient care environment that will lead to an efficient flow and experience. Will provide on-call services on a rotational basis. Will apply previous computer experience to new applications for imaging and record keeping.
Essential Functions · Performs diagnostic CT exams of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and extremities. Places IVs for contrast injections. Follows protocols set by the radiologist. Receives patient, explains the procedure, and creates a safe environment for the patient through good communication skills.
· Radiography. Performs diagnostic x-ray examinations including spine, extremities, head chest, and abdomen. Follows standard positions and views prescribed by radiologists. Assists radiologist with fluoroscopic procedures. Performs bone density tests. Receives patients, explains procedures, and utilizes standardized techniques, settings, and positions to accomplish acceptable results.
· Office Duties. Performs office jobs in a small department including, but not limited to: answering phones, scheduling patients' exams, printing reports, retrieving charts, researching problems, ordering supplies, and helping radiologists and providers.
· Responsible for QA and QC for NPVMC imaging modalities. Documents: patient exposure time to radiation, amount of contrast administered, exam performed, and other information as required by the Joint Commission regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology used in standard radiographic, CT, and fluoroscopic exams. Extensive knowledge of radiation physics and protection (ALARA). Considerable knowledge of digitized imaging and multiple computer systems.
· Skilled at independently performing radiographic, CT, and fluoroscopic exams. Skilled in oral and written communication. Skilled in organizing and cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment in serviceable condition.
· Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with radiologists, providers, patients, computer technologists, and NPVMC staff. Able to perform multiple tasks in a small department. Able to learn new imaging exams as required by radiologists or providers.
