Job Overview:
As a Yard Technician, you will play a key role in the operational success of our equipment rental and sales company. Your primary responsibilities will include the maintenance, preparation, and handling of our equipment inventory. This role requires a combination of mechanical skills, organization, and customer interaction, ensuring that all equipment is in top condition and ready for customer use.
Responsibilities: Inspect and perform basic maintenance and repairs on rental equipment and tools, including cleaning, servicing, and ensuring all safety features are operational. Prepare equipment for rental, including performing pre-rental inspections and demonstrating use to customers when necessary. Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment, providing clear instructions on operation and safety. Manage inventory placement and organization within the yard. Conduct routine checks to ensure inventory is complete and undamaged. Record and report any equipment damage or malfunctions for further servicing. Assist with inventory counts and equipment audits to ensure accuracy. Operate heavy machinery like forklifts to move large equipment (subject to proper certifications). Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and regulations. Provide excellent customer service, answering questions, and resolving issues with professionalism. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus. Previous experience in equipment maintenance, landscaping, construction, or a related field. Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to operate heavy machinery (certification may be required). Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Good communication skills and ability to interact positively with customers and team members. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Skills: Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with common hand and power tools. Safety-conscious and capable of adhering to strict safety standards.
