The Yardmaster is responsible for daily planning of all on-rail traffic within the Milpitas Complex. This position will communicate daily with the customer and other service partners to plan set out and pick up instructions for inbound/outbound trains to ensure trains get in and out of the terminal smoothly, at the times they're supposed to. Manage total car inventory for ramps and support yards. Must be able to prioritize/manage inbound and outbound demands for terminal to meet customer goals. Ensures the safety of crews and meets operational targets as outlined by the KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) set by customer and company. Responsibilities: Manages and coordinates the activities of train crews, providing oversight and direction in accordance with company policies and federal laws. Uphold and promote a culture of safety in line with ConGlobal's Safety Pillars, mission, vision, and values..Assist in overall terminal operations including safety, operations testing, administration, maintenance, and productivity. Will provide direct oversight for the on-duty yardmaster. Ensure the proper execution of the daily operating plan by train crews. Responsible for problem solving with local railroad officers.Prevent personal injuries and accidents by actively and aggressively promoting employee habits, attributes, and behavior with a goal of Zero Harm.Initiate and provide an accurate, complete, and timely investigation of all accidents and incidents, including root cause, remedial action, and recommended solutions. Promote company safety initiatives and instill a safety culture. Enforces and upholds all ConGlobal rules, regulations, and policies.Conduct efficiency tests, check rides, stop tests, and operational test to determine the effectiveness of training and to monitor rules compliance. Ability to train switch crews and yardmasters to perform job-related duties; and to provide training related to federal and company regulations, rules, safety guidelines and preventive maintenance. Qualifications: RequirementsPrevious management positions preferred.Previous experience in rail operations is required. Switching experience is preferred.Strong knowledge of FRA regulatory requirements, rail operations, and safety requirements. Experience performing Operations Testing is preferred.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and coordinate multiple trains effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, TSS Express, Yard Viz Planner, Throughput Planner, and TMDS. Must obtain/maintain conductor and engineer certifications.Must obtain/maintain DSLE qualification.
