Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Site Supervisor is responsible for the complete program management and overall operations of the after school/day camp site, including administration of all program operations, supervision of staff including teachers, contracted and non-contracted personnel. Oversee all youth activities and ensure contract and outcome compliance. Maintain records and open communication with school, families and community partners.
Essential Functions / Job Duties: Provide overall leadership, supervision and quality control to the site.Ensure that the proper staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times and report discrepancies to the Associate Executive Director as needed.Supervise all site staff appropriately.Create a positive atmosphere, which boosts self-esteem and general self-concept of all participants.Plan/implement well-organized and well-varied activities based on the mandated curriculum.Communicate clearly and regularly with parents about the program and their child's participation. Inform parents when there is a behavior problem that cannot be addressed adequately through verbal correction.Cooperate fully with school personnel to use facilities properly.Work with the YMCA Afterschool Associate Executive Director to ensure that all standards required by the funding agencies and the YMCA are complied with fully.Maintain individual participant records as required by YMCA policies.Monitor daily attendance sheets and see that they are kept organized and accurate.Report all incidents and accidents within 24 hours to the Associate Executive Director.Adhere to the Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements which mandate by law all childcare personnel to report suspicions of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment.Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or AA Degree in Education/Business preferred, or High School Diploma with experience in management and education. Minimum of five (5) years' work experience with adolescents and two (2) years supervisory experience.Ability to relate to both children and adults; understand, practice and model YMCA Character Development values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.Bilingual, English and Spanish, or English and Creole, is a plus.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Must enjoy communicating with school personnel, children and parents.Ability to work with children in an active environment.Ability to navigate difficult conversations with individuals of all levels.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.The employee frequently is required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment.The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening and drug test.
