YMCA Camp Letts is a dynamic resident camp facility dedicated to serving youth, families, and other organizations for over 100 years.
Our camp is located in Edgewater, Maryland on 220 waterfront acres.
Camp Letts features a welcoming dining facility with a beautiful waterfront view, and a wide range of activities and amenities including water sports, horseback riding, ropes course, nature exploration, and so much more.
Position: Camp Director Pay Rate: $1100.00/Weekly
YMCA Camp Letts is currently looking to hire a Summer Camp Director.
Working at the Y, you will create exciting and impactful experiences for campers, build connections with your peers and Y professionals, expand your leadership skills, and have fun!
This is a seasonal position for the months of June through August 2024.
Some of the exciting things you will do as a Camp Director: The Camp Directorwill oversee and manage summer camp (residential and day camps).
Responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified staff to provide quality programs to our members and program participants.
Ensure all campers have a fun, enriching, and safe experience Plan and implement the Y camp program in accordance with the goals and policies of the Y and the camp curriculum Provide leadership to camp counselors, including training and daily supervision Mentor camp staff Ensure daily schedule of activities is carried out for all groups of campers Conduct weekly team meetings and provide performance feedback on a daily basis Ensure that all counselors have daily schedule and the appropriate supplies and resources to deliver a quality program Be responsible for camper safety and security Ensure adherence to the policies of the Y Motivate, energize and encourage counselors to deliver outstanding programming and customer service daily Participate in staff trainings and meetings as required What you need to be a Camp Director: Be able to work from the week before camp begins for training to the end of the final week of the season High school graduate 21 years of age Willing to participate in and obtain CPR and First Aid Certification Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting Meet the county/state licensing requirements Y Day Camp Director certification/preferred At least three summers of experience in day camp, recreation, physical education, teaching, or working with school age children Prior experience supervising staff Work well with and in groups Able to effectively communicate with children and parents Understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to Y character development Physical requirements: Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Must be physically active to play games and sports with the children Must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds Must have visual acuity to observe all children Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test We offer the following benefits: Competitive compensation Free Y membership 403(b) savings plan Exciting and collaborative work environment Ability to work with creative, talented and diverse individuals!
