Location
In this position you can expect to work on-site at various recreation centers and Parks and Recreation facilities, based on business needs.
What You'll Do
The City and County of Denver's Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) provides a broad range of world-class programs, services, facilities, and park amenities throughout Denver. The Youth Sports Team is devoted to enriching the lives of Denver's youth through engaging sports programs and providing a fun, energetic atmosphere for youth to learn the fundamentals of numerous team and individual sports. Youth Sports programming includes tennis, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, flag football, gymnastics, soccer, softball, t-ball, track and field, volleyball, and more across Denver! The Youth Sports Team is seeking two (2) Program Coordinators to provide support and coordination to these essential programming opportunities. Program Coordinators help to develop, market, implement, and organize Youth Sports programming throughout the metro area while also managing the day-to-day aspects of regular operations.
One position's primary focus will be on the coordination of tennis, camps, cheerleading, gymnastics, and track and field, while supporting league sports, as needed.
One position's primary focus will be on supporting efforts to recruit, train, and retain part time staff members in addition to scheduling, work assignments, timecard management, and performance evaluation, while supporting league sports, as needed.
All Youth Sports Program Coordinators will:
Collaborate with Recreation Center Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, city representatives, and partner organizations to coordinate facility usage and implementation of programs
Manage part time staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality program delivery across Denver
Perform timekeeping for assigned part time staff including coaches, site supervisors, scorekeepers, and sports officials, to ensure timely and accurate payroll functions
Assist and oversee aspects of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, placement, training, and performance coaching of part time staff
Coordinate and support league sites to ensure smooth and consistent operating
Manage program registrations, ensuring rosters and schedules are always accurate
Administer and review program participant evaluations for your assigned programs, analyzing and using your findings to increase program and instructional quality and effectiveness
Engage in outreach activities focused on community engagement, soliciting feedback, and increasing participation in Youth Sports programming
Oversee program equipment inventory and transport equipment to and from recreation centers, as necessary
Performing other Youth Sports functions, such as coaching, officiating, and/or site supervising, as needed or directed

Strong administrative and computer skills
Experience managing large recreational programs

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of experience working in recreation, education, or a closely related field.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or by the completion of probation. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
