Internship positions are located at PIMCO's Newport Beach, CA Headquarters Requirements : Pursuing a Quantitative Master's degree (financial engineering or other technically demanding program such as Data Science, Stats or Operations Research) Must be able to begin full time employment from a PIMCO office between January 2026 - August 2026 Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2025 semester (August 2025 - December 2025) Undergraduate training in quantitative fields such as physics, math, stats, engineering, and computer science is preferred Minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average, on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, at an accredited 4-year college or university Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing) By applying to this role, you will be considered for a position on the Quantitative Strategies Team within Portfolio Management: Quantitative Strategies (Intern, Portfolio Manager) : This team is responsible for developing and managing quantitative trading strategies. The team focus on the entire life cycle of the quantitative investment process: starting from idea generation, signal testing, portfolio design and construction, all the way through to portfolio management and maintenance. The candidate will work on projects which are mentored by senior Portfolio Managers with deep expertise in varied asset classes including Rates, FX, Equities, Commodities, and Vol. Example projects include alpha research on new signals; enhancement and extension of existing signals; TCA analysis; portfolio construction and optimization etc. Career Development, Training and Mentoring Every intern begins their summer with a formal week of training. The PIMCO Fundamentals training program will provide you with the skills, knowledge and relationships that will prepare you to succeed in your internship. Your informal training will continue throughout the summer at PIMCO - everyday, in a perpetual learning environment. In addition, you will be teamed with a seasoned professional who offers guidance and mentorship throughout the internship. Desired candidates should possess the following skills and characteristics: Academic background in a quantitative field with a strong track record Interest in finance Strong programming ability (Python preferred) Solid understanding of probability and statistics Ability to work with unstructured real-world data Independent research experience is preferred Intellectual curiosity is a must Ability to thrive in a team environment Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills The PIMCO Internship Experience: The PIMCO Internship Program runs between Monday, June 9 - Friday, August 15, 2025 with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program During Week 1, you'll participate in PIMCO Fundamentals Training, providing you with the skills, knowledge, and relationships that will prepare you for success Alongside your colleagues, participate in PIMCO's Global Month of Volunteering , developed to heighten the impact of our employees' worldwide volunteer efforts Join us for a variety of cross-divisional education, networking & social events!
