SUMMARY:
The Assistant Principal is the instructional leader of his/her school.
The Assistant Principal is responsible for aligning PXU Leadership Profile areas: Creating a Vision of Equity, Developing Leadership in Others, Creating a Culture of Excellence, Improving Instruction, and Supporting Processes, People, and Data.
To be an Assistant Principal in PXU is to exercise leadership in its many forms.
The PXU Assistant Principal has extensive knowledge of the Phoenix community and has made the choice to answer the call to serve here and to serve the members of this community.
Finally, the PXU Assistant Principal is a role model of the PXU Core Values and stewards the school community in pursuit of the ten PXU Commitments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Models transformational leadership that results in a high-performing school staff, increased student achievement, and measurable outcomes. Facilitates positive communication between personnel, students, and parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts. In collaboration with the principal, manages a variety of processes, including the selection and supervision of school personnel, coordination of student funds, and supervision of student activities. Embodies professionalism and ethics by practicing professional courtesy and respect in all interpersonal interactions. Administers District policies, regulations, and procedures, while providing for the health and safety of students and staff. Leads instructional and support staff in delivering culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy and best practices. Models principles of self-awareness, reflective practice, transparency, equity, diversity continuous growth, and ethical behavior to strengthen systemic equity in school practices. Creates conditions for teacher effectiveness and professional growth, student success, and strong home-school partnerships. Models a strengths-based approach in providing behavioral and academic Multi-Tiered System of Supports. Builds positive working relationships with District Leadership, faculty and staff, parents, and community members, and utilizes restorative practices to build community and address conflict when it arises. Perseveres when working across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization to achieve school and District goals. Completes other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: Possess a Master's degree. Have three (3) years of classroom teacher experience. Have knowledge of curriculum, latest developments in instructional methods, media, and school improvement, as well as experience in student registration procedures, data processing, budget management, counseling, and student discipline. Have knowledge of evaluation procedures and the selection and supervision of certified and support staff. Have experience in school management. License and Certification Requirements: Possess a current Arizona Principal Certificate Possess a valid Arizona State Driver's License Possess a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES Have extensive knowledge of the Phoenix community, the population we serve in PXU, and articulate why they want to serve here. Have a proven track record of coaching and building capacity in others, and articulate specific actions when leading and developing their teams. Be able to articulate a vision of environments in which students and staff feel purpose and success while in pursuit of their goals. Ability to work with diverse backgrounds to build consensus and persevere in a complex system. Exhibit an ability to gather data, both quantitative and qualitative, and utilize the available technology to analyze data, to inform their decisions and actions taken as a community leader.
