Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Management:Oversee, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.Set goals and expectations for team members, conducting regular performance evaluations to support professional growth.Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing financial insights that drive business decisions.Financial Operations and Reporting:Manage all aspects of the general ledger, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with deadlines and reporting requirements.Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring they align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Oversee inventory transactions, monitoring price fluctuations and ensuring accurate reporting of cost of goods sold (COGS).Strategic Planning and Analysis:Provide detailed financial analysis to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections, monitoring variances and recommending corrective actions.Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with overall company objectives.Compliance and Audit Preparation:Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements, proactively addressing any compliance risks.Act as the primary liaison for external audits, ensuring seamless collaboration and accurate documentation.Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings.Systems and Process Improvement:Drive the continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Identify opportunities to leverage technology to streamline operations, including implementing new tools and software.Champion a data-driven approach to decision-making, leveraging advanced reporting and analytics tools.Skills and CompetenciesLeadership & Collaboration:Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage a team of accounting professionals.Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders.Technical Expertise:In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance standards.Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling).Analytical Thinking:Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.Communication:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.Experience creating comprehensive reports and executive summaries.Physical RequirementsRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for typing and data entry.Occasionally required to lift objects up to 25 pounds.Work is primarily conducted indoors in a climate-controlled environment.TravelMinimal travel is required, typically for training or business-related meetings.
QualificationsEducation and Certifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).CPA or CMA certification (strongly preferred).Experience:5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.Demonstrated expertise in managing financial operations in a fast-paced environment.Experience with QuickBooks and ERP systems (preferred).Technical Skills:Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.Additional NotesFor all applicants, a valid, government-issued photo ID is required.
