Description of Job What we do:
The Mail Services work unit, within the Administrative Offices Division, exists to provide the department with the following mail services: Receive, security screen (x-ray), sort, open, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and undeliverable/returnable mail; fold, hand enclose, package, meter, and mail outbound mail via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.
; manage loading dock deliveries; provide official copies of tax returns to taxpayers; fulfill requests for tax forms and tax booklets; and administer the weekly document shred process for the department's Pierce Street location.
The typical day as an Administrative Assistant II in Mail Services:
You'll be receiving, processing and transporting mail, packages, supplies and other items at the Lakewood facility and distributing and handling items appropriately.
Excellent driving skills are imperative in this role in order to deliver packages safely.
Use your attention to detail, organizational and computer skills to ensure the correct postage is applied to outgoing items, forms are completed accurately and route schedules are timely.

Primary Duties: Pick-up and transport (via driving) mail, packages, supplies, interdepartmental mail, etc.
to/from USPS, other state agencies, and department facilities using a prescribed route and times.
Safely operate and maintain a state fleet vehicle.
Operate a postage meter.
Receive, security screen, and log dock deliveries.
Run reports from the postage meter and package tracking system using computer skills.
Open, sort, extract, date stamp, and process incoming mail.
Process returned/undeliverable warrants.
Provide exceptional customer service when customers stop by to pick-up mail, ask questions, or have a mail/packageissue that needs to be resolved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience Only:
Two (2) years of General Clerical work experience in a professional office setting conducting such tasks as: Interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community.
Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies such as mailing equipment.
Entering confidential customer information into a program or database (customer records).
Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness.
Also, gathering specified information and compiling routine reports.
Mail and package delivery to other offices.
Experience lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout an 8-hour work shift.

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned (as outlined above) equal to two (2) years

Special Qualifications: Must possess and maintain a Colorado driver's license.

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.
As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy.
Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment.
Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
