KSB has nearly 180 years of service whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, Kindergarten to age 21. KSB prides itself on helping all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired to develop their talents, their skills, and attitudes to become confident, competent, and independent adults.
Currently, KSB has a vacant Administrative Specialist Senior. As an Administrative Specialist Senior, you will provide professional support to the Principal and the Director of Special Education in the oversight, implementation, and compliance of mandated federal and state statutes and regulations regarding the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintains all due process paperwork and files to ensure compliance with the provisions of IDEA legal requirements.Conducts research and manages processes to ensure all deadlines and compliance requirements are met.Ensures and maintains confidentiality in record keeping between state schools, local education agencies (LEA), and parents/guardians.Documents and schedules all Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meetings within state and federal IDEA statutory and regulatory timelines.Provides professional support and assistance with communication between state schools, LEAs, families, and other required members.Provides professional support with ADA accommodations needed for participants during the ARC meetings.Coordinates and conducts campus tours to prospective KSB students and families.Communicates and works with LEAs requesting a referral through district evaluation.Collaborates and assists with multiple staff across campus to provide access to families for special assignments to include student registration, opening/closing day, campus activities, and special events. Maintains daily attendance records through Infinite Campus, providing reports to Food Service.Drafts communications to families regarding special education federal and state reporting timelines and surveys.Answers inquiries from the public, parents, and visitors regarding the school.Monitors physical visitors and entry into the school.Preferred Skills include, but are not limited to: Strong interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skillsClear and effective verbal and written communication skillsStrong adaptability skillsThe Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. KDE will only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions: Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
