SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a full-time Advocate for a homeless shelter in Huntington.
The Advocate will be responsible for conducting client assessments, linking clients with community-based services, assisting clients in achieving self-sufficiency through advocacy, and offering resource referrals.

RESPONSIBILITIES The Advocate will perform intakes for new clients upon arrival at the shelter.
Provide ongoing support and counseling for clients in reaching their goals.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
The Advocate will negotiate conflict resolution and crisis intervention between clients.
Conduct regular perimeter checks for safety.
Issue violations for the breaking of rules.
The Advocate will provide conflict resolution strategies.
Oversee and document clients while they self-administer medication.
Serve Meals.
Conduct routine bathroom checks.
Report and document all incidents with detail and accuracy.
Transport clients as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
1 year of experience in human services preferred.
Prior experience working with the homeless population preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required.
Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.
Ability to work Monday through Friday 12:00AM - 8:00AM required.
