We're actively seeking a talented API Engineer to join our Workforce Benefits Technology team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid or 100% remote (depending on location).
Reporting to the Director and Product Owner, Integrations this API Engineer will partner with our functional areas and corporate teams to deliver a highly integrated framework of solution providers for Workforce Benefits. This developer will be responsible for the delivery of patterns and technology solutions to integrate SaaS systems and partner solutions within the Workforce Benefits technology ecosystem to stream and exchange files of structured and unstructured data. This role will serve as a valued partner across Workforce Benefits functions to create real-time, fast, scalable access to data to satisfy the integration needs of the division.
How you will make an impact: Work collaboratively across Distribution, Underwriting, Pricing, Operations, Finance, and Claims division to develop integration capabilities that translate our customer objective into action.Establish and build processes and structures based on business and technical requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route appropriately and store using any combination of distributed (cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage forms.Build system, experience, and process APIs using canonical models. Translate business terms into code as infrastructure through the build of integrations.Develop event-based, streaming real time data infrastructures and technology to handle event production, event routing, and event consumption. Build integration-related technologies to meet business requirements related to internal system and external customer and partner integrations.Responsible for maintaining the frameworks, reference model, and technology standards related to integration technologies that are used to manage the implementation of technical solutions.Partner with central technology platform developers to implement technical platform services that support integration priorities. Test end-points and connectivity between systems.Update and maintain the catalog of enterprise integration points, including external partners and service providers as well as internally re-usable APIs and other integration resources.Work with solution providers to ensure the integrity and automated flow of data to internal and external customers. Identify, analyze and resolve API weaknesses.Contribute and adhere to integration governance principles across Workforce Benefits to ensure consistency, compatibility and application of integration standards.Build and adopt best-in-practice development operations procedures for APIs and data exchange, including logging, error handling, consistent and reusable development practices.The experience you will bring: BS in Computer Science or related field. Master's degree preferred.Strong working knowledge of current integration styles, technologies, and platforms.6+ years of experience with enterprise-level integrations (policy admin system, document generation, benefits enrollment providers).4+ years of hands-on integration development and direct experience with on-prem and cloud-based integrations.4+ years of experience using streaming and file transfer technologies including RESTful APIs, Mulesoft, and Control-M.What will make you stand out: 3+ years of experience using event-based technologies like Apache Kafka, AWS Eventbridge, Kinesis, SNS.3+ years of experience in Group Benefits insurance data domains, including Distribution, Product, Underwriting, Enrollment, Billing, and Claims.3+ years experience with cloud technologies such as Snowflake and AWS related to data and integrations.You belong at Pacific Life At Pacific Life we are committed to a culture of belonging, a space where all employees are empowered to be authentic. Base Pay Range: The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
