VCBO Architecture is an award-winning, integrated design firm with a team of more than 100 professionals in two offices in Utah, completing outstanding work across the Intermountain West. Our staff is dedicated to providing clients with functional, beautiful, sustainable, and future-focused projects in K-12 education, higher education, civic, sports and recreation, healthcare, religious, commercial, multi-family and mixed-use, and industrial sectors. VCBO is seeking an experienced architect with 10+ years of experience to join our architectural group in our St. George, Utah, office. VCBO has a passion for excellence and a strong group of people who respect each other and enjoy working together. Position Summary This is a full-time position for an architect with experience working on a variety of projects, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. The successful candidate will have experience in preparing drawings for schematic design and design development, as well as experience in preparing preliminary design studies and adaptations of alternatives for review and contract documents, including details, sections, elevations, and schedules. They will produce amendments, addenda, and bulletins and complete self-checks for accuracy, omissions, and legibility. The architect will exercise creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models, and graphics. They will assist in preparing adaptations and technical alternatives for project team review, bringing knowledge of architectural detailing, current construction standards, and building systems. Qualifications Basic computer and internet skills are required Experience in Revit, Sketchup, and Rhino Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Knowledge and understanding of project management software Experience: Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture required 10+ years experience in architecture Licensed architect (desired but not required) LEED Accredited Professional (desired but not required) Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture and SketchUp Experience managing others along with excellent verbal and communication skills Self-motivated Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development Experience in compiling data, performing elementary design computations, and performing area calculations according to specified standards Knowledge of building codes Able to complete the permitting process with the aid and supervision of a team leader Knowledge of addenda and construction change directive procedures Ability to review and respond to submittal and RFI documentation with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the project type and industry
