The Tailored Lending Group within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is seeking an Asset Manager for our Alternatives Lending Team. The Tailored Lending Group provides Ultra High Net Worth clients with customized lending solutions that can be used to enhance liquidity, finance asset acquisition and/or protect wealth. The Alternatives Lending Team specializes in bespoke financing transactions including loans secured by aircraft, alternative investments (hedge funds and private equity funds), private company stock, uncalled capital commitments to private equity funds, and unsecured loans. The Asset Manager will report to the Head of Asset Management within the Alternatives Lending Team and will be responsible for maintaining the quality of the existing loan portfolio, collaborating on new loan originations and partnering with our Credit Risk Managers on portfolio risk control and reporting. The position shall be based in New York, NY.
Position Summary
Experienced credit professional with an ability to manage a portfolio of complex and highly structured loans. This individual will be responsible for:
• Managing amendments, renewals, and annual reviews of existing credit facilities across a diverse portfolio of loans, including:
• Performing credit analyses covering financial statements, collateral, and review of loan documentation
• Preparing high quality credit memoranda clearly outlining transaction structure, credit analyses results, and evaluation of strengths and risks of the transactions for Credit Risk Managers' review and approval.
• Evaluating, monitoring, and reporting on credit risk factors including:
• Requesting ongoing credit facility reporting requirements
• Performing periodic financial covenant and collateral valuation testing
• Timely updates to loan classifications and risk ratings and performing impairment analysis when necessary.
• Partnering with Lending Transactors and Credit Risk Managers in loan due diligence, and requesting and reviewing legal documentation
• Working with all relevant parties including Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, Loan Operations, Compliance, and Legal teams
• Ensuring portfolio data integrity within internal credit systems
• Ensuring accurate and timely updates of loan portfolio metrics/reports
Required Experiences:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum 2-3 years of lending and credit experience in private banking, investment banking and/or commercial banking
• Experience in accounting, finance, and/or credit/lending
• Detail oriented with exceptional analytical skills and ability to understand complex financial statements and loan structures
• High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals on all levels
• Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively with related parties across the firm
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $100,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
