Work Here! JOB SUMMARY: Directs activities of engineers and technicians and assist in the overall administrative operation of the department.
Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group, department and other departments.
Responsibilities:
Directs activities of engineering staff and manages mobility and other assigned projects.Attends meetings with other departments, contractors, vendors and other entities.Acts as department liaison with vendors and contractors.Assists in preparation and monitoring of budget; recommends, tracks, and monitors budget expenditures.Responds to inquiries and resolve or refers to proper party.Oversees and coordinates activities of the department.Recommends future capital improvements.Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties; supervises and reviews work of other employees; Assigns duties and plans work of others.Recommends selection of new employees, employee transfers/promotions, disciplining/discharging and salary.Assists with landfill and recycling center related activities in conformance with Federal State requirements.
Prepares and submits required reports.Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field.Registered Professional Engineer.7 years of job related experience with 2 years in supervisory capacity.Excellent computer, engineering, construction experience, management, and organizational skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
