New York Institute of Technology Office of Financial Affairs, seeks an Assistant Dean of Students, located at the Old Westbury campus.
Responsibilities
Lead and provide strategic direction and vision for the Department of Student Life.
Directly supervise professional staff and graduate assistants.
Work to promote the model of one campus, two locations as it relates to the student experience.
Manage a budget of over $500,000 for Student Engagement, comprising of the Undergraduate Student Funds, Graduate Student Funds and the Orientation/First Year Programs Budgets.
Serve as project manager for both the divisional and institutional initiatives including but not exclusive to technology updates for improved student development assessment, development of new institutional programs and college traditions, and implementation of tools and protocols to improve efficiency of program planning and student engagement.
Promote professional development growth opportunities for all professional and paraprofessional staff by encouraging involvement or attendance in national, regional and local conferences.
Provide direction for staff meetings and one on one supervision in the office.
Provide guidance and leadership with our first-generation student and Bear Bytes initiatives.
Collaborate with Associate Dean of Students on initiatives such as Student Engagement and Development Awards, SGA Elections, Leadership Retreats, Conference presentations, Orientation planning, SGA Formals, Greek Life initiatives, first-year engagement, International student on-boarding, and Graduate Student engagement and advocacy.
Oversee division-wide assessment initiative.
(40%) Serve as the primary administrative representative and resource officer in Student Life.
Provide leadership for the daily operations of Student Life.
Assist with inquiries from faculty, staff, students and community members related to all Student Engagement processes and operations.
Directly facilitate hiring, training, supervision and oversight for a professional team with full management of the following areas: Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Government Advising, Leadership Development, Graduate Student Advising and Leadership, First Year Experience, National Society for Leadership and Success, and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
Oversee all Student Engagement and Development pride and awareness initiatives that are supported by Student Life including Welcome Week, Greek Week, Mayfest, Final Roar, Grizzly Games and all other New York Tech initiatives.
Oversee advisement of student organizations for the New York Campuses, including the major student leadership organizations of Student Government Associations, Graduate Student Associations, Programming Boards, and Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Review and guide process for initiating new official student organizations and clubs.
Position is expected to travel between New York campuses as needed.
(25%) Oversee all new student orientation program development and onboarding processes for domestic and international students.
Supervise staff who oversee all orientation programs, trainings, selection process and services for incoming students and guests.
Collaborate with all staff departments and faculty regarding the logistics of orientation.
Create and oversee all communication to incoming students, families, staff and faculty.
Assist with the coordination and implementation of the New Student Academic Convocation.
Provide supervision for the orientation website and social media content.
(20%) Support the Associate Dean of Students and Dean of Students for all campus matters.
Serve as Student Life representative for division wide and institutional wide initiatives.
Respond to New York Tech Community concerns involving students, family members, faculty and staff members brought to the attention of Student Life.
Create opportunities and initiatives for education and dialogue for the campus at large around social justice and diversity topics.
Serve as the lead chair for the Crisis, Assessment, Response, and Evaluation Care (Team) Assist with addressing Student Conduct and Academic Integrity cases.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education is required.
7-10 years' experience in student affairs, preferably including student conduct, student affairs programs and student engagement and onboarding initiatives.
Financial management/budgeting, planning and problem-solving skills and progressive experience in supervision of professional staff.
Must have knowledge of student affairs, new student programming needs and in working in a complex organizational culture.
Must have the ability to:
Coordinate on-going assessment of student learning Lead initiatives in an independent manner Supervise a team of professionals and paraprofessional staff Work nights and weekends on occasion Experience in the developmental and administration of college student co-curricular programs.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, advocacy, counseling, decision-making and organizational skills are required.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
