Job Description:

We are looking for an energetic and hardworking lawyer to join our Legal team.
This individual will report directly to the General Counsel and be directly responsible for the legal support of the entire product life cycle, including developing and distributing new products and related commercial, regulatory, compliance, and disclosure matters.
This role will play an integral role in our growing organization.
The best candidate will be flexible enough to engage in a wide range of projects and matters supporting multiple strategic objectives and operational necessities.


This position is remote or hybrid to New York City, depending on the candidate's location.
The range for this role is $160,000 - 200,000, depending on the candidate's location and experience.


Job Responsibilities: Lead Counsel for business teams on product-development legal issues, from inception to product build and maintenance, including related commercial arrangements with suppliers and customers Provide strategic advice regarding applicable state and federal laws with a focus on consumer finance and protection and related compliance, privacy, data use, and marketing requirements/laws.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments in consumer finance and other relevant areas Assist with the growth and maturation of our compliance and privacy programs Lead the legal development and review of all associated consumer disclosures and related website and App materials Oversee the design and implementation of legal policies, programs, and practices, ensuring the company activities comply with applicable laws and regulations Support relationships with our critical partners Provide legal advice on strategic commercial matters and prepare, review, and negotiate complex contracts, joint ventures, and customer/supplier agreements Prepare and coordinate support and documentation for submissions, customer and vendor due diligence, audits, product registrations and certifications, licenses and renewals Be a trusted advisor and teammate, sharing legal and other expertise and support when needed Identify and evaluate business and legal risks with an eye toward creative problem-solving Draft terms and conditions, cardholder agreements and other disclosures, and compliance-related policies, review copy Qualifications: 5+ years of related financial services or fintech experience, preferably with a focus on US Consumer Payments Experience (prepaid, debit, credit, and ACH) Experience with Reg E, consumer finance, privacy, AML, and related marketing laws preferred JD from a highly reputable, ABA-accredited law school Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one state bar/jurisdiction A combination of firm and in-house experience is preferred The ability and desire to develop expertise in new or unfamiliar areas of law Strong communication skills, detail-oriented and exceptionally organized Robust interpersonal and relationship-building skills Strong organization and self-reliant technology skills Ability to multi-task and manage various projects, meet deadlines, excel under pressure, and work independently Must be authorized and permanently located in the United States Why you'll love working here: An empowering workplace that values initiative and critical thinking Work on achieving our financial inclusion mission A supportive and inclusive culture: recognizes contributions and celebrates wins A welcoming environment that appreciates your bringing your entire self to work Time to rest and recharge -- flexible time off policy as long as you can get your job done and make arrangements with your manager to cover you if needed
