Ares Secondaries Group is one of the most experienced investors in acquiring secondary private fund ownership stakes in the alternative asset management industry.
The Group provides bespoke and customized liquidity solutions across the private equity, credit, real estate, and infrastructure asset classes.
With over 30 years of experience in the market, Ares Secondaries Group focuses on generating attractive risk adjusted returns through its leading industry analytics and research, robust deal origination, underwriting and portfolio management activities.
Building off the success of its secondaries investment experience, the Ares Secondaries Group has launched a Credit Secondaries platform and is looking to build out its team.
The newly established strategy is a natural extension of Ares' leading Credit and Secondaries platforms, which respectively had approximately $235 billion and $23 billion of assets under management as of March 31, 2023.
The Ares Secondaries Group has more than 65 dedicated investment professionals located in offices across the United States, Europe and Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
The firm is currently looking to hire an Associate to join our Credit Secondaries team in our NYC office.
Evaluate new investment opportunities by conducting quantitative and qualitative due diligence on credit fund portfolios as part of an underwriting team Due diligence activities will include: Asset level credit analysis including data synthesis and trend summaries Analyzing and overlaying macro level trends to diligence diversified credit portfolios Participating in diligence sessions with third parties including brokers, LPs, and GP managers Operating and maintaining complex financial models to evaluate and sensitize returns Prepare and present an investment thesis via investment committee memos and meeting Support deal teams in transaction management, including overall process organization, negotiations with sellers and execution of closings Prepare presentations to investors, firm partners and other counterparties Assist in ongoing fund performance monitoring and portfolio analytics Develop a network of contacts in the secondaries industry through deal flow, due diligence activities and attendance at industry conferences Education/Experience Required: 2-3 years' experience in investment banking (leveraged finance preferred but not required), credit or secondaries principal investing, credit valuation or restructuring advisory services Strong analytical capabilities, financial analysis, writing and presentation skills Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and financial modeling Successful candidates will have a proven track record of leadership skills, and a strong record of academic achievement Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work both independently and in a dynamic team environment Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional, polished demeanor Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to handle and thrive with increased independence Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field Reporting Relationships

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below.
Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$130,000.00 - $175,000.00
