Role Information Evotec is recruiting a Director or Associate Vice President of Business Development to join our Business Development team.
In this role, the candidate will report to the Vice President of Business Development based on the East Coast.
The candidate will support the VP/SVP Business Development in growing business within the territory.
Responsibilities: Grow new business revenue and establish business relationships within the regionImplement corporate sales and marketing plansSecure and retain business for Evotec through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at new clientsPosition Evotec as a primary or preferred provider for all discovery and development servicesInteract with operations and marketing to close new business and develop long-term relationshipsInteract positively with the entire business development and operations teamSkills and Abilities: An understanding of the drug discovery and development pathwaySolid technical background coupled with clear ability to develop professional sales skillsCritical thinking and creativityAbility to assess client needs and craft recommendations through effective written and oral presentations working together with the scientific and business development teamsAnalytical skills; ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and produce reports and documents to support sales argumentsAbility to identify leads, assess the value of new business/product opportunities, and close deals.Essential; local connections within the East Coast, Boston, Cambridge, MA areas.Characteristics: Demonstrated business acumen and responds proactively to business challengesSelf-motivated and driven to achieve goalsMakes good business decisions and solves problemsEstablished network of contacts in the local drug discovery industry in the greater Boston areaAble to lead the business development process, coordinate multinational teams and support deal negotiations to reach final agreementsPersuasive and effective in negotiationWillingness and desire to learn; open to change.Qualifications: BSc, MSc or PhD in a Life Sciences discipline required.Experience with Salesforce is a plusA minimum of 5 plus years technical, operations, or alliance management experience and at least one year of successful sales experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech company.
An existing deal sheet is a plus.Demonstrable understanding of the drug discovery and development field with ability to learn business developmentAn existing network of decision-makers in the pharma & biotech industry (VP, SVP, C-Level) is a plus.Familiar with the greater Boston life science ecosystem and preferably located in close proximity to Cambridge/Boston to facilitate in-person client meetings, attend events, etc.Evotec (US) Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
