Attorney Development Manager

Our client, a top global law firm known for its exceptional culture and people, is seeking an Attorney Development Manager to focus on corporate practice.

This role is responsible for managing a variety of talent development initiatives, including staffing, for one or more corporate practice groups across the United States.

This position is hybrid with 3 days a week in office required.

Please note that relevant and direct experience from within a noted law firm is required. You'll collaborate with Practice Group Leaders and Talent Partners to maximize the professional potential of the Firm's attorneys, ensuring work is distributed efficiently and fairly. They will also partner with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team to foster a diverse talent pipeline, oversee the associate evaluation process, engage in strategic workforce planning, and contribute to the overall talent strategy and objectives of the Firm.

Key Responsibilities Staffing and Work Allocation: Collaborate with partners and associates to ensure efficient staffing of matters, focusing on productivity, associate development, practice group objectives, and equitable work distribution. This includes managing external factors, such as vacations and leaves of absence. Strategy Development: Consult with Practice Group Leaders and Talent Partners to understand business goals, and help design, implement, and support strategies to achieve them. Associate Development: Meet individually with associates to offer guidance on productivity, career development, interpersonal dynamics, and well-being. Data Analysis and Reporting: Track, aggregate, and analyze key attorney performance data, such as productivity and utilization rates, and present findings to relevant stakeholders. Performance Management: Oversee the annual associate evaluation process, which includes compiling feedback, consulting with partners about associate performance, attending performance reviews, and identifying strategies to enhance associate development. Ongoing Feedback and Development Plans: Support year-round performance management by collecting real-time feedback and developing action plans to aid in associate development. Collaboration and Innovation: Work with the Senior Corporate Talent Manager and other Attorney Development Managers to evaluate and refine talent development strategies across practice groups. Workforce Planning and Recruitment: Partner with Practice Group Leaders and the Recruiting Team on workforce planning and contribute to the lateral hiring process. General Responsibilities Act as a liaison between attorneys, the Attorney Development team, and other staff members. Report on and analyze key data, presenting insights to relevant stakeholders. Stay informed on Firm developments and communicate pertinent information to Practice Group Leaders and Talent Partners. Manage ad hoc projects as needed. Experience and Qualifications Minimum of three years of relevant experience doing this work from within a law firm environment is required. Proven ability to work closely with senior leadership and influence key decisions. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues and collaborate across teams. Excellent judgment and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information. Ability to work both strategically and with attention to detail. Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfort with financial data and experience analyzing metrics. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency when necessary. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with viDesktop is a plus. Professional, proactive, and solution-oriented, with the ability to identify challenges and offer resolutions. Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as required.
