Job Description
General Summary Of Duties:
Through the friendly, timely and prompt serving of food & beverage, server ensures guest satisfaction. This including using materials and techniques to provide superior guest service.
Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
To physically place food items and utensils in front of guests or to place items needed on tables for food functions.
Lift heavy trays of food and dirty dishes to properly serve guests.
Record the details of guest re-orders.
Check station before and during shift for proper set-up.
Keep work station neat and orderly, and perform general cleaning tasks using standards hotel cleaning products, as assigned, to adhere to standards including draining/cleaning of coffee equipment and breakdown of temporary side stations.
Respond to guest inquiries. Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and/or information within Hotel guidelines.
Communicate with supervisor throughout shift with regard to job/break assignments and for directions/instructions.
Fill salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowls and perform housekeeping duties on a daily basis in banquet storerooms.
Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, etiquette, table settings and service ware.
Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 pounds at shoulder height through a crowded room on a continuous basis.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to utilize math skills for count sheets and guest checks.
Basic mathematical skills necessary to fill out guest checks, count product consumption and prepare consumption reports.
Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions within the Hotel guidelines.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve problems and concerns.
Respond to guest inquiries. Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete job assignments, banquet menu count sheets and communicate with other employees/guests.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.
Respond immediately to customer inquiries regarding Hotel features, services and assistance. Provide clear and understandable directions to Hotel facilities and nearby attractions.
Ability to perform duties within cold to normal to hot temperature ranges.
Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use coffee pots and sterno.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment including coffee makers and ice machines.
Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions, exercise judgment and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.
Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves with supplies.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness. Store all equipment.
"CLEAN AS YOU GO" -- Keep your work neat and orderly, and perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned, to adhere to standards.

Additional Information
Typical physical / mental demands
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances with the facility.
Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on a four-decker weighing a maximum of 350 lbs. at a continuous schedule.
Ability to stand, move and work throughout the Hotel for the duration of the shift including climbing stairs and elevators.
Ability to walk and work up to 10 miles per shift in crowded rooms.
This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift including lifting up to 50 pounds to table height.
Typical Working Condition:
Ability to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, noisy and dark.
Ability to stand and work in confined space for long periods of time (high noise levels).
