Batching Lead Department: Formulated Department
Status: Non-exempt

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Job Summary: Provides general oversight of all batching procedures in the Formulated Department, ensuring safety and quality, while providing coaching and support to employees. Duties and responsibilities include accurately and efficiently measuring, verifying lot numbers and preparing raw ingredients for production process, adhering to the highest standards of food safety, quality and service.
Essential Functions: Documentation of batches with comprehensive understanding of the data and its impact to the operation. Operates within all standard operating procedures. Operates forklifts and other heavy equipment. Cleans and maintains work area. Adhere to proper Good Manufacturing Practices. Use of MRP/ERP for finding inventory related information. Prints documentation and prepares batched ingredients for production. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Legible handwriting. Average pace of batch completion. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Possesses the ability to train new Batchers on basic tasks. Working Conditions/Physical Factors: Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment. Worker may be exposed to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current. Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.). Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer). Must be able to talk/hear/sit for prolonged periods of time. Frequently required to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
