Job Description The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is searching for an administrative professional at the NREL Flatirons Campus south of Boulder, Colorado.
The successful candidate will serve as the Business Support Specialist for the Wind Energy Systems and Wind Energy Science groups.
These goups consist of engineers and scientists that conduct wind energy research in the field and facilities at the 305-acre site.
The successful candidate will also be a member of the Business Support team and supports other members in their absence and on an as-needed basis.
This position can be fast paced and dynamic.
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills are required, along with five or more years administrative assistant experience, providing support at the manager level and to the group are critical to successfully executing the duties of the job.
This is a very customer-oriented position, and you will be asked by internal staff to assist with a variety of tasks, not limited to the job duties described below.

Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Solid knowledge of the job.
Substantial understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
Intermediate skills in applicable software packages and office equipment.
Basic project administration skills.
Ability to prioritize work.
Proficient in written and verbal communications.
Very good team and interpersonal skills.
Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Additional Required Qualifications To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential and appropriate duty.
Duties include but are not limited to: Assist with aspects of employee hiring and onboarding, entering job requisition in Workday, scheduling of interviews, and onboarding processes Supporting the processing work orders, move forms, and short and long-term visitor approvals Assisting the Business Support team lead and other Business support team members when needed, as well as other administrative staff across the laboratory on tasks, activities, and events.
Meeting and event planning and scheduling in Microsoft Outlook, including coordination and logistics for on-site and potentially off-site meetings as well as webinars Interfacing with outside entities and individuals including subcontractors, vendors, speakers, and others as needed.
Working in numerous online administrative tools Coordinating foreign and domestic travel including submitting requests, tracking approvals, reserving airfare, lodging, and rental cars, and processing expense reports in Concur Purchase orders, requisitions, and invoice processing.
PCard ordering and reconciliation Composing and editing letters, documents, and presentations.
Generating internal and external correspondence.
Assisting with publication preparation and documentation.
Act as a resource to staff on institutional processes, procedures, and requirements, and provide input and recommendations on organization-specific administrative practices.
Coordinating calendars, schedules, and meeting logistics.
Coverage with reception desk for short periods of time Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will have the following skills and experience.
Strong written and verbal communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Prior administrative experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office and Teams, and Oracle Business Suite Experience with webinars and other long-distance collaboration software and hardware Experience with confidentiality and professionalism in an environment with sensitive and proprietary information.
Experience carrying out projects from inception to closure .

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Business Support II / Annual Salary Range: $42,700 - $68,300 NREL takes into consideration a candidates education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employees salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
