Description
The Business System Analyst is essential in planning, designing, developing, launching, and maintaining effective business, financial, and operational systems that support the organization's core functions and processes.
This role includes system administration, business analysis, report writing, system troubleshooting, and collaboration with students, faculty, and staff to achieve the college's objectives through various enterprise-level systems.
The Business System Analyst will act as the primary administrator for enterprise applications, including but not limited to Ellucian's Colleague, Technolutions' Slate, and enterprise reporting tools such as SAP's Business Objects.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This person must have an understanding of software configuration and setup, as well as an understanding of data extractions/reporting/analysis concepts.
This person should also be able to document business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement systems to support those processes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Primary administrator of enterprise-level systems and applications, including managing user access, configuring system features and modules, providing technical support for end users, and implementing system updates.
•Collaborate with end users and business offices to enhance the integration of enterprise-level system functionality and optimize related business processes.
•Engage with users to identify business requirements and investigate issues with existing processes.
•Assist in the development and management of integrations between enterprise-level systems, ensuring smooth data flow and system compatibility.
•Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training to end users on processes and outcomes.
•Assist in collecting and analyzing data for business cases, proposed projects, and system requirements.
•Provide support in the use of Colleague Reporting and Operating Analytics, SAP Business Objects, and other business analytics tools.
•Assist in the creation of datasets, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
•Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data needs and requirements, assisting in the development and maintenance of the Operational Data Warehouse.
•Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to the College's enterprise-level systems.
•Educate departments on best practices and procedures related to enterprise-level systems.
•Uphold data quality standards and perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy.
•Oversee timelines, resources, and communications for projects and upgrades related to enterprise-level systems.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Proven experience in supporting and administering enterprise systems within a higher education setting, with a preference for candidates who have previously worked with Ellucian Colleague.
•Demonstrated experience in designing and creating databases using tools like SQL Server Management Studio.
•In-depth understanding of business process flows and the effective use of enterprise applications to boost productivity.
•Extensive knowledge of SQL, database management, and ETL processes.
•Experience with reporting solutions, such as SAP Business Objects or Power BI, is preferred.
•Demonstrated experience in delivering end-user training and support.
•Ability to plan and manage multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.
•Experience working within a higher education IT environment is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's degree required.
•At least two years of experience working with enterprise systems in a higher education environment preferred.
•Experience administering Ellucian's Colleague preferred.
•Experience with project management.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
•Experience with writing SQL and database management.
