Job Summary We are looking for individual to join our client's team as Certified Tumor Registrar. You will be responsible for cancer identification using all available case finding techniques; identifies all reportable cases; retrieves and compiles standard core information from the patient's electronic medical record in EPIC. Abstracts patient information from electronic medical record systems; codes demographics, cancer information, stage of disease and treatment utilizing required manuals.
Job Description Compiles and abstract records of hospital patients treated for cancer cases in The Metriq database. Obtains core information from patient's medical records from EPIC, including demographic characteristics, history of cancer, diagnostic procedures, diagnosis, stage of disease, extent of disease, and treatments according to standards and requirements set forth by regulatory agencies. Reviews and performs case finding on all consults and or encounters from EPIC to include Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and or outside treatment information according to standards and requirements set forth by regulatory agencies. Contacts other registries either by telephone, email, fax and/or letter to complete data on the first course of treatment for each patient with a diagnosis of cancer. Documents any missing treatment and/or procedures performed at outside facilities following discharge from this institution and documenting in the registry abstract. Reviews and adds cases to be included in cancer registry database. Performs active follow-up activities for all analytic cases to include care and/or subsequent treatment, type of recurrence, date of recurrence, date last cancer (tumor) status, according to standards and guidelines of regulatory agencies. Follow all the requirements and regulations set forth by ACOS, COC, ACS, NCI, SEER, and NYS DOH Central Cancer Registry. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills Required Two years' experience Level 1 Trauma Center, EPIC EMR NTRACs Trauma Registry Remote position experience. Education/Training/Certifications Bachelor's Degree Required, master's degree Preferred. Tumor Registry certification (CTR) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Additional Requirements Adhere to company guidelines regarding COVID compliance.
