Summary: The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing comprehensive diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIAB) strategies across the organization. This executive role involves integrating DEIAB principles into all aspects of MCCA's operations, fostering an inclusive culture that enhances the customer experience, and with a specific focus on supplier diversity, workforce development, and inclusive procurement practices. The CDO will work closely with the Office of People and Culture, the Procurement team, and the Community Engagement team to ensure alignment with organizational goals, promote cultural competence, and foster an inclusive environment both within MCCA and in its interactions with external stakeholders.
This position will play a critical role in driving the MCCA's mission to create an inclusive environment for employees, partners, and the broader community, while ensuring equity and diversity across all business operations.

Lead DEIAB Strategy Development and Implementation
Drive the creation and execution of a robust Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access and Belonging (DEIAB) strategy for the MCCA, incorporating short-term and long-term goals to ensure equitable policies and practices across all levels of the organization.Supplier Diversity Program Oversight
Develop and implement supplier diversity initiatives to ensure increased participation of minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and other underrepresented businesses in MCCA's procurement processes. Work closely with the Procurement team to track progress and report on outcomes.Collaborative Partnership Development
Foster and maintain strong working relationships with the Office of People and Culture, the Procurement team, and the Community Engagement team to align DEIAB strategies with organizational priorities. Collaborate to embed DEIAB principles into recruitment, procurement, community relations, and workplace culture initiatives.DEIAB Training and Development
Ensure impactful DEIAB training programs tailored to the specific needs of MCCA staff, contractors, and partners to enhance cultural competency, address unconscious bias, and support an inclusive workplace environment.Community Engagement and External Representation
Represent MCCA in local and regional forums focused on equity and inclusion and collaborate with community organizations to address social responsibility goals and foster positive public relations.Data-Driven Reporting and Compliance
Establish and manage metrics to measure the success of DEIAB initiatives, including workforce diversity, supplier diversity, and employee engagement. Provide regular reports to senior leadership and the Board of Directors on DEIAB progress, trends, and compliance with state and federal regulations.Other Duties as AssignedPerforms other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

The CDO must demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking, and an ability to envision and implement transformative DEIAB strategies that align with MCCA's mission and long-term objectives.Supplier Diversity Management
Expertise in building and enhancing supplier diversity programs is essential, with a focus on increasing opportunities for minority and underrepresented groups. The CDO will work with Procurement to ensure accountability and measurable outcomes in diverse sourcing.Collaboration and Influence
The CDO will be a connector and collaborator, working with key internal departments (People and Culture, Procurement, Community Engagement) to embed DEIAB into their operations. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to influence and guide cross-functional teams.Training and Education Expertise
The CDO will be responsible for developing and leading impactful DEIAB training programs, ensuring all levels of staff understand and contribute to an inclusive organizational culture.Data-Driven Approach
The role requires a focus on tracking, analyzing, and reporting DEIAB-related data. The CDO must be comfortable using metrics to drive improvements, ensuring that MCCA's initiatives are effective and compliant with all legal obligations.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is provided by the Executive Director and includes training, inspecting, assigning work, coaching, and performance evaluation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Public Policy, or related field; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 8-10 years of leadership experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion roles.Proven track record of developing and executing successful supplier diversity and DEI strategies.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Experience in training and development focused on DEI or cultural competence.Strong analytical skills with experience using data to measure outcomes and make informed decisions.Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and inspire others at all levels of the organization.Experience leading organizational change and driving cultural transformation.A deep understanding of diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences with experience managing sensitive issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging.Familiarity with relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
