WHAT WE OFFER
As a Claim Prevention Manager at our Baytown facility, this position is recognized as the NAFTA authority (expert) for the technical contracting and claim prevention for all global Our Client capital investment and turn around project contracts based on the US legal system.
• Develops a complete and comprehensive ITB's together with project team including procurement.
Ensures that all required Project Management Standards are selected to suit the project execution strategy.
• Develops and executes global/regional/local strategies and processes and ensures a functional and closed feedback loop to govern technical information for updating of the global standards and processes
• Develop and execute global tracking and controlling system including procedures for the function to secure a sustainable engineering and construction contract life cycle and contract fulfillment during pre- and post-contract award phases of projects.
• Globally responsible for the systematical technical set-up of contracts with one or more contractors providing claim prevention expertise, advice, guidance and counsel to the project directors/managers.
He / she shall implement a system in place to systematically analyze, evaluate and report project technical requirements and ensure that the claim prevention team has a thorough understanding of the global/regional/local design & engineering practices as well standards & processes.
• Warrants that the project teams understand what has been signed and need to be executed.
• Involved in the recruitment of expert personnel, assignment of Our Client and external personnel to capital projects and the development & implementation of training for expert personnel.
• Will be a member of the global community claim prevention with members from the global and local engineering and procurement organizations whereby he/she ensures that the global claim prevention process describes the essential requirements ensuring commercial best solutions for Our Client.
• Before a new project claim prevention procedure is proposed, review of best practices already in place across the organization.
Prepare and realize claim prevention concepts including strategies for realization together with all relevant communities.
• On a local level: creation, development, realization and maintenance of a claim prevention process considering engineering aspects.
• Supports the governance process for global engineering standards, design and engineering practices and processes with systematical technical feedback.
Leads all technical aspects for claim prevention processes in relation to technical design, installation construction as well as the quality that assures project success.
• The incumbent is responsible for working closely together with local procurement to agree on an approach to collect/resolve the claims.
• Develops strategic and / or operational policies, practices and procedures to support the capital investment and turn around projects.
• Optimizes the interfaces and working relationship between projects and procurement.
• Acts as an expert liaison for all claim prevention training and development of personnel.
WHAT YOU OFFER
Minimum Qualifications:
• University degree (PhD, Master or Bachelor) in Business/Economics and/or Law and / or Engineering or comparable qualification (e.g.
quantity surveying).
• Minimum 10 years relevant professional work experience with contractual and legal concepts in the field of law.
• Experience in a chemical/pharmaceutical company is a plus.
• Experience with the execution of CAPEX-projects in leading positions in procurement / contract management / project management or construction management.
• Experience in various execution strategies such as EPC, EPCM, EPsCM, Time & Materials, etc.

• Experience with standard contracts (e.g.
FIDIC, NEC3) a plus.
• Experience gained with an EPC(M) contractor or engineering company preferred.
• Experience gained in a multinational company is a plus.
