Position: CNC Machinist - 2nd shift
Location: Harwood Heights, IL
Job Overview: The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes and mills, specifically Duscon and Haas machines.
This role involves using existing programs and tooling to run parts, making necessary adjustments and offsets to achieve a good first piece, and ensuring high-quality production.
Additionally, the machinist will move into the inspection department to check parts, use inspection gauges, and document their work.
Key Responsibilities: Set up CNC lathes and mills using existing programs and tooling.
Run parts, make necessary adjustments, and offsets to produce a good first piece.
Check parts using inspection gauges and make necessary tweaks and adjustments.
Document measurements and part inspections accurately.
Complete first piece inspection reports as required per routing.
Utilize tools such as micrometers, drop indicators, vernier calipers, optical comparators, and profilometers.
Troubleshoot issues and solve inspection problems, drawing from experience to develop new approaches.
Ensure programs and instructions are documented and the process loop is closed.
Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
2-3 years of CNC milling/turning experience in a job shop environment.
Ability to read and interpret micrometers, drop indicators, vernier calipers, and other inspection gauges.
Knowledge and utilization of optical comparators and profilometers.
Ability to correctly interpret drawings, including more complex GD&T callouts.
Strong attention to detail and precision in low-volume, high-changeover environments.
Stable work history (preferably not a job hopper).
Preferred Qualifications: Additional experience in programming CNC machines.
Familiarity with troubleshooting and adjusting CNC programs.
Ability to solve complex inspection problems and develop new approaches.
