Overview: This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office and will be located in: Knoxville or Johnson City, TN; Asheville, Hendersonville, or Hickory, NC; Greenville, SC, or in Virginia.
The Commercial Underwriter II position works directly with the Bank's C&I/Medical lending teams and is responsible for the underwriting of complex commercial credits in support of a diversified commercial portfolio. Provides guidance to structuring, servicing, analysis, and documentation for both new and renewal credits. Identifies, gathers, and reviews financial information to determine borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Assists credit partners in risk mitigation strategies and monitoring. Provides service and support for both associates and commercial customers, assisting in customer calls and identifying cross-sales opportunities. May assist special projects as needed to facilitate commercial lending activities and service capabilities and may provide direction to less experienced underwriters/analysts in the work group.
Responsibilities: Underwriting - Underwrites commercial credit actions according to applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Reviews financial statements, communicates with clients or prospects, and performs analysis to recommend borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Ensures all involved parties are updated on underwriting progress and outcome. May provide guidance to less experienced underwriters through knowledge of underwriting procedures and information needs.Analysis - Sources, compiles, and interprets financial data to support structuring and approval of loans. Reviews industry information and comparisons, key risks and mitigants, and collateral to form a general business overview of the borrower. Utilizes results of analysis to underwrite commercial loans.Risk Management - Identifies risks through reviews, analysis, and research of new and existing commercial credit requests and relationships. Works closely with Bank associates and partners to resolve risk issues, communicating review schedule and potential changes in the commercial portfolio. Assists in coordinating review and renewal schedules for existing credits, facilitating ongoing risk identification and management.Business Support - May assist in Identifying cross-sales opportunities for new and existing relationships based on analysis activities. Identifies servicing information and prepares credit analysis documentation. Partners with associates and clients to determine needs and structuring of new requests, renewals, and modifications, participating in client and prospect calls as needed. May assist management with peer development and training. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial Underwriting, Credit Analysis, or Lending; experience in C&I and Medical preferred.

High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Commercial Underwriting, Credit Analysis, or Lending; experience in C&I and Medical preferred.
