Position Summary Responsible for the development of integrated communication and public affairs (C&PA) strategies to support Johnson & Johnson's US Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) business, including UPTRAVI, OPSUMIT, and OPSYNVI in addition to leading launch readiness plans and communications for future investigational therapies. This individual will develop and execute internal and external strategies to illustrate our leadership in Pulmonary Hypertension, as well as investigational and pipeline assets in the PH space. Developing and managing new relationships with PH patient advocate communities and with the blind and low vision communities will be a critical part of this role. This individual will report to the Business Unit Communications Leader (BUCL).
Responsibilities include: Providing strategic communication counsel to the PH business. Developing public relations activities for launch brands and promoted products (including unbranded activities where appropriate). Managing issues and organizational communications. Serving as a member of the PH Leadership Team and providing day-to-day counsel to the U.S. President of PH. Managing direct reports: the Senior Manager, Product Communications and a full-time consultant. Responsibilities/principal duties As lead commercial communication resource, drive business unit growth and build stakeholder trust/advocacy through proactive public relations. Serve as lead commercial resource for communication/public relations support for key brands including UPTRAVI, OPSUMIT, and OPSYNVI as well as pipeline products. Develop strong partnerships with leadership, including President, Pulmonary Hypertension, as well as Vice Presidents of Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs across multiple brands. Integrate knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities to lead the development and efficient implementation of strategic communication plans. Proactively drive business and Enterprise outcomes by identifying and applying key outcomes metrics to communication practices. Anticipate and address emerging market issues and internal realities to drive and protect reputation. Build understanding of current issues in the environment affecting businesses and brands; develop and execute public affairs strategies. Partner closely with the relevant Therapeutic Area Communication Leader within the R&D organization. Manage public relations agencies and other professional agencies. Develop and lead all aspects of public relations budgets and manage resources. Develop relationships with key media, including patient advocates and content creators. Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of issues. Proactively identify potential brand/franchise-related issues and develop issues-management strategies. Drive employee engagement and advocacy through powerful organizational communications. Partnering with business leaders, develop internal communication strategy and messages to inspire, engage, inform and align employees. Build Global Communications & Public Affairs capability and excellence. Lead, develop and inspire direct reports. Qualifications BA required. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency is required. Proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communications, product communications, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements is required. Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships and influence with senior executives is required. Demonstrated ability to craft compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication abilities is required. Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industries is preferred. Experience in crisis/issues management is preferred. Experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media is required. Deep understanding of digital and social platforms is required. Experience in managing budgets and schedules is required. Salary The base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950 USD.
Bonus The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.
