Serve s as a resource for Departments, Vice Presidents and Senior Management on issues concerning Regulatory Compliance as it deals with Financial Institutions including all NCUA and CFPB Regulations as well as State and Local Laws that affect financial institutions (job does not include broad based industrial/commercial compliance issues such as employment and occupational hazards or laws pertaining to Human Resources ).
The Compliance Officer oversees and manages the business unit monitoring and compliance program. They perform independent validations of business unit monitoring, track the results and advise the business unit Compliance Administrators as to potential risk. Compliance Officers coordinate the correction and remediation of any identified deficiencies. They analyze, suggest revisions and approved business unit procedures and processes to ensure that those policies and procedures are being followed, and that compliance behavior in the departments meets the minimum company standards of conduct and disposition.
Responsible for oversight and review of business unit monitoring, policies and procedures to e nsure they are kept in accordance with the Compliance Management System .
Stays informed regarding any changes in Federal, State and Local Laws affecting the management, operations, and products of the credit union . Coordinate s with business unit Compliance Administrators concerning recent developments and changes related to regulation and legal issues and assists with implementing changes in their areas of responsibility. Works with business unit Compliance Administrators to validate their findings in relation to sampling process controls and outcomes. This includes policies, procedures and practices for the general operation of the credit union and its related activities to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations. The Compliance Officer coordinates and ensures the business unit Compliance Administrators conduct appropriate monitoring in compliance with the Compliance Management System. Serves as a consultant resource for Departments, Senior Management and Volunteers to assist with issues concerning Regulatory Compliance. Coordinates efforts, as needed, to implement processes to comply with emerging and new compliance requirements. Tracks and ensures all issues identified through business unit monitoring are resolved and remediated. Ensures all necessary policies, procedures and process changes are completed. Provides reporting to Senior Management and the Board of Directors as required . Examines credit union policies, procedures , official forms and practices to determine compliance with laws and regulations affecting operations of the credit union. Assists process owners in writing new policies , procedures and official forms for evolving regulatory changes . Monitor and insure that all required regulatory training is completed in the business units according to schedule and that training content is current and comprehensive . Works with teams and individuals in the development of new products and services to insure regulatory compliance. Bachelor's Degree , although a Master's Degree is desired and completion of a specialized certification program . Five to six years' experience in compliance, law or audit in a financial institution Proven analytical skills, including investigative problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions about compliance risks and recommended action . Highly o rganized with exceptional attention to detail and able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision. Excellent grammar, written and verbal communication skills . Ability to create professional written work product including correspondence, procedures, policies and training materials .
