POSITION SUMMARY

Empire State Realty Trust (ESRT) is actively seeking a meticulous Construction Cost Estimator to enhance our project planning and financial forecasting.
In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing project documents to craft detailed cost estimates, evaluating contractor bids, and steering contract negotiations.
You will collaborate with internal project managers and leasing personnel, as well as external engineers, architects, and clients to ensure that projects not only meet but exceed our standards for quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.


RESPONSIBILITIES Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope and objectives of the project Conduct site visits and collect data on materials, labor, equipment, and other factors that affect the project cost Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using various methods, such as unit pricing, parametric estimating, or computer software Analyze and compare contractor bids and quotations and select the best offer Negotiate contracts and change orders with contractor, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients Monitor and update project costs and budgets throughout the project lifecycle Prepare and maintain cost reports and documentation Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the project Communicate and collaborate with project stakeholders, such as project managers, leasing staff, engineers, architects, and clients WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE You are someone who embodies precision and foresight in their role.
You are a strategic thinker who meticulously analyzes construction costs, ensuring that every estimate aligns with ESRT's financial objectives and project requirements.
Your success is marked by your ability to navigate complex data, leveraging their expertise to forecast expenses accurately and identify cost-saving opportunities.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES Knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and regulations Proficiency in cost estimating software Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field Minimum of 7 years' experience as a construction cost estimator or similar role PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT At ESRT, like our tenants, our employees come from everywhere.

$100,000 - $125,000 a year

Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, job location, size of property where applicable, and/or certifications.
In addition to your base salary, ESRT provides discretionary annual bonuses.
