Content Writer & Editor18 December 2023 The businessDriversnote is a product-centric and profitable SaaS company based in the heart of Copenhagen. We have been at the heart of the Copenhagen tech startup scene for almost 10 years, and now we take pride in helping more than 2 million users in over 60 countries keep a mileage logbook. No one likes to do mileage documentation - so we try to remove this tedious work and make our customers' work-life simpler by saving them time and money.
The opportunityThroughout the last year we have put more attention towards search engines - mainly writing to answer people's questions on mileage tracking and documentation - with very positive results. We now want to double down on that and are looking for a Content Writer and Editor (in English).
We see SEO as one of the big growth opportunities for Driversnote over the next few years. We have domains in 10 countries, and we publish content in several languages and markets where rules and regulations differ. We mainly expect you to focus on the English language markets (US, CA, AU, UK, NZ) as a start.
Our plan to win is simply to write the most helpful and best researched content in the world within our niche and deliver content based solely on our potential customers' needs. This will also take us beyond the topic of mileage tracking.
The roleYou'll be joining our dedicated SEO & Content marketing team (3 full-time employees) that's part of a larger marketing department. The team currently consists of a manager, a content writer and a search marketing specialist.
Along with the team, you will build a network of freelance writers and subject matter experts that we can draw on to get as high content quality as possible. We produce some of our content in-house, some of it we outsource. We act as editors for each other and for our freelancers.
By taking in someone who's used to writing for a living, we hope to maintain a steady flow of new content as well as revisions of everything previously published. Your role is to help us keep pace while maintaining very high quality. In time, you will be in charge of content in at least one English-speaking market.
If you don't have experience being an editor, please don't hesitate to apply; we will make sure you are given the support and training you need to transition to a dual role as soon as possible. You also won't need to be an SEO expert. Our manager has extensive SEO experience and will train you as needed.
You'll work with: Researching and writing content - mainly articles published on our own websites that people then find via search engines.Finding, testing, and managing freelance writers and subject matter experts.Acting as editor for both our in-house writing and freelancers.Generating topics to write that then go into our backlog for further qualification.Occasionally teaching the rest of us who haven't written as much as you.Following up on published articles to see how they're doing in terms of ranking, readership and conversion to new users (we all do this).Minimum requirements: Have more than two years of experience with content production as a writer and/or editor.Be fluent in written English and previously have published works in English (please share some in your application).Have been part of an editorial process. This is to ensure that you know how the back-and-forth works and can help us tweak our own process.Look here for bonus points: You have been an editor in the past. You have bookkeeping/accounting knowledge in one of our markets (some of our topics go fairly deep into accounting & tax rules). You have managed freelancers in the past, or maybe been one.You have some experience with SEO (keyword research, Google Search Console, web analytics). What we believe inVision & mission: We work to eliminate work-life hassles to let people focus on what matters. Today, that means removing the pain and trivial work of handling mileage, while providing peace of mind that nothing is forgotten and all rules are followed.
Product-led: We focus our work on the end-user and optimize for bottom-up adoption. People's use of our product is what leads to our growth. We sell through our product and as self-service. We invest in customer success instead of outbound sales. Our marketing is focused on people with a need, leading them to the product.
Lean & data-driven: We try to get a deep understanding of the problems we're solving. But we also acknowledge that we often can't predict the outcome of our work. So we believe in an experiment-based approach to product development with short build-measure-learn cycles. For this reason, we also don't believe in detailed plans for more than 3 months ahead.
Long-term & compounding: We invest in things that will have a continuous return and compound. We e.g. prefer a 1% improvement of activation rate over a €100k deal. We're self-funded, so we don't stress about the next funding round, and take the time to go into depth with our work.
What we offerAt Driversnote you will be part of a team composed of talented people that are fun to be around. You will have ample opportunity to influence decisions at all levels, and we hope we can both teach you something and learn something new from you. We have a new spacious office on Skelbækgade near the Copenhagen Meatpacking district where we enjoy a great, freshly cooked lunch every day, as well as networking and partying with other startups when time allows. Since many of us have partners and kids that we enjoy spending time with, we can honestly say that we offer a healthy work-life balance along with a competitive salary and all the benefits you would expect.
