The Office of Student Experience supports students and their families from the moment they enroll until they graduate. TheCoordinator of First Year Initiativesassists first year students in navigating campus life by participating in programs and activities designed especially for them. Expectations include, but are not limited to, assisting with initiatives for new first year students through supervision of peer mentors, implementation of co-curricular programming, and individualized outreach to at-risk students
The focus of the Office of Student Experience is on all facets of assisting new and returning students and their families to the campus through creating a supportive community that fosters student success and persistence. Duties include but are not limited to: Assist with the implementation of onboarding events and transition programs that are targeted at freshmen/first-year studentsCoordinate the recruitment, selection, hiring and training of the Office of Student Experience student staff and supervise the teamAssist with the administrative functions of the year-long programs and opportunities for first year students to engage with the campus communityCoordinate outreach to new students via social media, peer mentors, and passive programsSupport office initiatives including maintaining online presence, providing content for the family portal, and maintaining a program budgetCollaborate with campus partners to enhance the quality of life and learning for new studentsRepresent the office at various evening/weekend events and serve on university committees as appropriate Minimum of one year professional or two years paraprofessional experience in a college studentservice area focused on one or more of these areas: peer mentoring professional mentoring, orcampus activities in a higher education setting Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation Experience with successfully working in a customer service setting Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated use of technologyPreferred: Master's Degree in closely related fieldExperience working in a student-focused office in a higher education settingDemonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple prioritiesExperience working with and serving diverse populations.
