This position will work with Local, State and Federal law enforcement to receive, analyze, and disseminate information regarding criminal and narcotics investigations. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon Annual High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

This full-time, non-exempt, benefit-eligible position is located at the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Investigative Support Center (HIDTA ISC) in Minneapolis and works directly within the Criminal Investigation Division and provides case support to the major crime detectives.

Salary: $70,012 to $84,011 ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour
2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $70,012 to $98,009 ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour).

Work Location
This position will work at the Hennepin County HIDTA ISC office located at 701 S 4th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55415.
Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., but may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Schedule may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Crime Analyst
Research, compile and map crime trends and patterns, perform crime analysis in support of law enforcement, detect and describe tactical, administrative, strategic links, patterns, and trends in crimes.
Conduct communication analysis and prepare organizational, phone link, and timeline charts using various intelligence/investigative software applications.
Monitor drug trafficking trends, identify emerging trends, officer safety issues and prepares strategic intelligence assignments.
Use federal, state, and local criminal systems and databases to research and evaluate drug organizations members, drug trafficking activities and investigative overlaps.
Maintain continuous training of trends, technologies, and methodologies in criminal analysis and apply this knowledge to enhance investigative strategies and outcomes.
Assist patrol, investigative and administrative staff in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention, intervention, and suppression of criminal activities.
Provide investigative case support to assist in narcotics and criminal investigations, gather, research and analyze information to produce and disseminate information sharing bulletins and criminal information products.
Prepare written reports, presentation, and conduct briefings to law enforcement and prosecutors pertaining to tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence.
Produce reports, presentations and special projects using investigative, analytical tools and various software.
Act as liaison to all Anoka County Sheriff's Office and neighboring law enforcement regarding crime analysis details, respond to inquiries from law enforcement and other agencies, testify in criminal prosecutions as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Requires a bachelor's degree criminal justice, law enforcement, statistics, criminology, information technology, business administration, public administration, sociology, psychology or a closely related field.
In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation including drug screening.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Knowledge of federal, state, and local law enforcement databases, research and data analysis methods and techniques as well as data privacy laws.
Skill in working with GIS mapping, various analytical software and Microsoft Office products.
Strong interpersonal, communication, research, and analytical skills.
Ability to collect, assemble, analyze, and evaluate evidence, statistics, and other pertinent information to draw logical conclusions to effectively solve crimes.
Ability to exercise sound judgement, work independently and make decisions and sustain strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in a team environment including all levels of Sheriff's Office staff, outside law enforcement agencies and the general public.
No tattoos, scars or brands that qualify as "Unauthorized Tattoos" under the Sheriff's Office Policy 1044.3 are allowed under any circumstances by any member of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are prohibited. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. (Complete policy available upon request).
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
Work will be performed in professional law enforcement office.
