Overview
Rhode Island Energy is hiring a Distribution Control Room Operations Coordinator within our Electric Control Center department in Lincoln RI.
This position requires a high level of personal commitment to deliver excellent performance in monitoring, switching and restoring the substation, sub-transmission and distribution high voltage electric systems in Rhode Island.
Professional communication and the ability to analyze trouble while under stress is expected.

Coordinate applications for planned and unplanned switching work under the jurisdiction of the Distribution control center.
Produce clear and concise work applications and switching guidelines.
Advise all the appropriate parties, including National Grid Transmission Control Center (TCC), PPL Transmission Control Center and outside companies, of the work to be done and keep them informed as necessary.
Plan for switching personnel for all planned switching needs.
Represent the Control Center on Project teams and assist in decision making process on system improvements and outage coordination.
Keep informed of upcoming work to ensure the EMS system and control center are prepared as construction progresses.
Help lead the integrating and training of new technologies (such as ADMS and DER) into the control room Coordinate applications for work with the TCC coordinators.
Assist in the coordination and documentation of outage restoration.
Know and understand circuit ratings and relay settings and be aware of current system conditions.
Coordinate the updating of the EMS diagrams.
Assume leadership role as needed during storms, fill-in for shift supervision, and participate in on-call rotation Coordinators work reasonable amounts of overtime as needed.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in system operations AND 5 years of experience as a system operator.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Clearance & Control rules.
Demonstrated computer skills, including use of standard Windows applications and specialized programs such as EMS / OMS / ADMS / PI.
Excellent verbal and listening skills, ability to effectively communicate with Operations people in addition to TCC, regional utility companies, municipalities and large customers.
