CAT Labs is a fast-paced technology startup specializing in building digital asset recovery and cyber defense tools for government and private sector to fight crypto crime. We develop cutting-edge encryption technology for crypto key management to prevent digital asset theft. Our digital asset recovery tools help law enforcement and intelligence to address the pervasive and rapidly growing illicit use of cryptocurrency by transnational criminal organizations, terrorists, drug cartels, and malicious nation-states, which poses a significant threat to our nation's safety and security. The CAT Labs team is the "Special Forces" protectors of the crypto industry with unparalleled blockchain security experts, cryptographers, former U.S. Department of Defense computer scientists, ethical hackers, and U.S. Department of Justice investigators, who spent the past decade taking down some of the most prolific crypto criminals. CAT Labs' flagship software tool Recovery CAT automates and scales the process of discovery and recovery of digital assets from digital data collected in the context of criminal investigations, intelligence collection, and civil case litigation where asset recovery is at stake, such as bankruptcy, restructuring, estate disputes, and divorce law. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Digital Asset Forensics Specialist to contribute to CAT Labs' innovative R&D, product and training development efforts in cryptocurrency recovery and digital data analysis. As a Digital Asset Forensics Specialist, you will leverage your expertise to generate, analyze, and document forensic images, contributing to the research and enhancement of our cutting-edge software tools. You will play a key role in creating and maintaining datasets, performing quality assurance tasks, and providing insights that refine our product offerings. Collaborating across teams, you will help develop and expand training materials, assist in curriculum design, conduct in-person and virtual trainings and support business development by explaining technical concepts to clients and stakeholders. This role requires a proactive and analytical mindset, a commitment to staying ahead of trends in digital forensics and cryptocurrency investigations, and a passion for advancing the capabilities of forensic technology to support CAT Labs' mission of creating cutting edge tools at the intersection of digital forensics and crypto asset recovery.
\n RESPONSIBILITIES:Generate and document mobile, desktop, and cloud-related forensic images and extractions for the purposes of cryptocurrency-related R&D and product testing.Perform examinations of external and internally-produced forensic images using COTS analysis software to produce findings and research reports. Assist in quality assurance tasks; utilize and test the performance of internal software products, documenting results.Create and maintain internal datasets used to aid in the detection of cryptocurrency-related artifacts.Offer UX, product feature and roadmap recommendations on internal software products based on R&D efforts and professional experience with similar tools in the digital evidence and cryptocurrency investigation ecosystems.Audit, update and expand the training material for our current Digital Asset Seizure course; assisting in curriculum development of potential future training courses related to digital forensics and cryptocurrency investigations.Assist in the creation of on-demand versions of training material and potential migration into an LMS platform.Assist in conducting in-person and virtual training courses of CAT Labs curriculum.Assist the business development team in explaining technical concepts and features of the software product to both potential and existing customers.Stay abreast of current and emerging trends in digital forensics, cryptocurrency, and investigative technologies.Develop workflows for technical integrations with complementary tools in the digital forensics, e-Discovery, data analytics and blockchain analytics space. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, or a related field.At least 3+ years of experience in digital forensics, cryptocurrency forensics, cyber investigations, or related fields, with a proven ability to conduct forensic imaging, analysis, and reporting.Hands-on experience with COTS forensic analysis tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Magnet Axiom) and processes for generating and analyzing forensic images from various devices.Strong knowledge of cryptocurrency ecosystems, blockchain technologies, and cryptocurrency artifacts.Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and contribute to client-facing materials.Proficiency in organizing and maintaining datasets to support research and investigative objectives.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to produce clear and concise documentation and reports.Demonstrated commitment to staying current with emerging trends in digital forensics and investigative technologies. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience developing and delivering technical training, including familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).Background in curriculum development, particularly for digital forensics or cryptocurrency investigation topics.Familiarity with UX/UI principles and experience providing feedback on forensic or investigative tools.Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive forensic or investigative tasks.Prior experience working with government agencies or law enforcement on digital forensics investigations.
