DIRECTOR OF GRAND COUNTY HOSPICE
The Director of Hospice is responsible for the general oversight of Grand County Hospice at Moab Regional Hospital, and ensuring that the hospice provides compassionate, high-quality care to patients and their families while maintaining operational efficiency and financial stability.
Grand County Hospice serves the community with:
On-call nursing assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Nursing care and support in your home or place of residence, including Canyonlands Care Center.
Symptom and pain management as the priority concern of our nurses and staff.
Social workers can offer psychosocial/emotional support, as well as access to community resources when needed.
Chaplains are available for spiritual support and additional emotional care.
Trained, caring volunteers are here to run errands, give support to the caregiver, and offer a listening ear, and a hand to hold.
Bereavement and grief support for family and loved ones is available for 13 months after death.
As Director of Hospice, you will oversee all aspects of the hospice program, to include hospice patient case management through an interdisciplinary approach, regulatory requirements, quality assessment and improvement, financial sustainability and day-to-day administrative function.
You will also function on the Nursing Administration team as appropriate.
This is an Exempt, full-time, benefitted position.
Anticipated Schedule: Salaried 40 hour week, Monday-Friday, that includes rotating evening and weekend on-call shifts.
Starting salary range: *** to *** annually, DOE
A *** signing bonus is available, with a 2-year service requirement
Director of Hospice duties and responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develops and implements the hospice's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values.
Provides leadership and direction to the hospice team.
Clinical Oversight:
Ensures high-quality hospice care delivery, compliance with regulations, and development of clinical policies.
Maintains close relationships with medical directors and other healthcare providers.
Provides direct patient care involvement and helps cover call shift rotations with team.
Oversees bereavement programs.
Manages inventory and DME and, collaboration with Pharmacy.
Financial Management:
Develops and manages the hospice budget, monitors financial performance, and ensures accurate billing and reimbursement.
Human Resources:
Recruits, hires, trains, and develops hospice staff, including volunteers.
Fosters a positive work environment.
Community Relations:
Builds and maintains relationships with community partners, oversees marketing, and participates in community outreach.
Quality Assurance:
Implements quality improvement initiatives, monitors patient satisfaction, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum requirements:
Current, unencumbered Utah or compact state RN license.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and one year (min.)
recent RN experience.
Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical/Surgical, Home Health, or Hospice Nursing.
Preferred experience: Direct hospice care; BSN; MSN
Current BLS certification.
Valid Driver's License and reliable, insured transportation for patient visits.
Willing and able to take 6-10 call shifts per month, depending on staffing levels.
Able to respond within 45 minute response time.
Sensitivity to the needs of terminally ill patients and families as well as awareness of one's own feelings about death and dying.
Ability to independently provide high standard of care in unstructured environments.
Great customer service skills.
Able to receive and manage sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Able to handle stressful situations calmly; emotionally mature.
Reliable and timely with work schedule.
Flexibility and willingness to accept other duties as assigned.
