Description
SUMMARY:
The human resources director works closely with senior leadership in the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the HR function for Dorsey College.
The Director ensures that all human resources practices and processes align with the College's goals and create a positive and productive work environment for all employees.
• Collaborates with senior leadership to develop the HR strategy and lead the implementation of policies, processes, and training that align with the college's goals and strategy.
• Manages the full recruitment cycle for including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection
• Analyzes data to develop effective strategies to attract and retain top talent in a competitive academic environment
• Serves as a primary point of contact for employee issues providing guidance and support to resolve conflicts
• Conduct investigations and provide appropriate recommendations to senior leadership.
• Design and implement performance management programs, including goal-setting, performance reviews, and development training.
• Identify training needs and develop programs that employee skills and capabilities; Facilitate workshops and training sessions
• Works with senior leadership in developing and maintaining the College's benefits compensation programs; Ensures equitable, competitive and compliant practices
• Approves new hire recommendations, salary offers, raises, and data inputs within Workday to ensure compliance with the College's policies and wage and hours laws
• Leverages Workday to ensure position control, adherence to the personnel budget, and accurate tracking of personnel changes and funding.
• Monitors, analyzes, and leverages data to identify ways to improve the human resources business processes, reporting, and effectiveness.
• Manages the daily operations of the human resources department including the professional development and training of HR staff.
• Supports the institution's leaders by conducting staffing-related research and data analysis aimed at aligning workforce needs with the college's initiatives
• Supports the mission of the University and serves as a culture ambassador
• Establishes long- and short-term strategic goals for the HR functional team based on assessment data and ensures standards for the department and its field are met or exceeded
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with faculty, staff, colleagues, and students; provides leadership in creating and maintaining cohesiveness within the division
• Supervises departmental staff; coordinates team projects, ensuring accuracy, provides regular feedback and coaching, and adherence to policies, procedures, and deadlines.
• Recruits, interviews, recommends, welcomes, observes, and monitors the performance of department staff
• Sets clear performance expectations and holds employees accountable
• Conducts annual employee evaluations based on evidence, observation, and feedback
Knowledge - Skills- Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
• Demonstrated Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated effective attention to detail
• Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion
• Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to HR and compensation programs, including knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws
• Analytical skills to facilitate understanding and application of research and statistics in report writing and decision-making
• Ability to prioritize multiple goals with competing deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Skilled in providing compensation and benefit program administration consultation to HR liaisons and managers
Working Conditions:
• General office setting
• Willingness to work hours in excess of a typical work week when necessary
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years' prior relevant work experience
• Minimum of 2 years' higher education experience preferred
• Workday experience preferred
• SHRM/HRCI certification preferred
Physical Demands:
• Ability to work effectively at a computer for up to eight hours daily
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
