Job Description
Overview:The mission of the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) is to make Boston a more equitable and inclusive city where all residents can thrive. MOH administers programs that create and preserve affordable housing, support homeowners and renters, provide housing and services to homeless individuals and families, and develop city-owned property.
The Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) seeks to carry out its mission through a lens of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and addressing the effects of systemic racism in our city. Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff or designee, the Director of Operations will oversee operational functions of the Mayor's Office of Housing and will coordinate processes for the department and assist divisional leadership in ensuring efficient and effective operations in our programs and services.
Responsibilities:Leads the implementation of new internal processes and management tools to streamline workflows and drive internal efficiencies.Work with leadership staff to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures governing the day-to-day operations of the Department.Develop and maintain a mission driven collaborative departmental culture which includes a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.Oversee internal communications to staff at MOH.Directly manage several operational divisions within MOH

Real Estate Management and SalesEnhance MOH's overall external customer service.Provides operational and program support to the divisions' Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and Operations.Coordinate with other city departments on projects intended to advance the City's priorities.Exercise discretion and sound judgment and be capable of handling confidential and highly sensitive information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.Work closely with the Administration and Finance Division on personnel matters and assist with union negotiations.Perform other related duties as required.Minimum Entrance Qualifications:At least five (5) years in a senior management position in operations, including experience in guiding complex organizational change and policy development of which three (3) years should be in a supervisory capacity.Extensive and diversified background with at least 5 years of related experience.Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field or equivalent.Experience working with diverse constituents, teams, and colleagues.Strong team player who can work independently in a fast-paced environment.Bilingualism in Spanish or one of the top five languages of Boston residents, is a strong preference.Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadline.Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with and be inclusive of diverse interests and backgrounds.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Proficiency with Microsoft applications, and Google Suite.Ability to exercise sound judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.The City of Boston is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
