Who We Are: FamilyWorks partners with families to alleviate food insecurity and ensure they have resources and support to overcome systemic barriers to equity, build stable communities, and thrive.
Since 1995, FamilyWorks has offered food access and family support programming in North Seattle.
Today, with a staff of 20+, we operate two food banks, a family resource center, and a host of mobile and satellite programs, reaching 10,000 program participants annually.

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT ·     The Director will oversee the coordination and administration of programs that support the organization's mission.
·     Develop and implement training programs to build the capacity of program staff in impact measurement, evaluation, and data quality.
·     In partnership with program managers, set policies, priorities, and procedures that are consistent with best practices for effective family support and food access programming.
·     Collaborate with the Executive Director and finance team to develop, implement, and manage the program aspects of the annual budget.
Work with the finance department to ensure sound fiscal management and establish grant administration protocols.

·     Ensure all services comply with federal, state, county, city, and funding regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.

·     Partner with the Director of Development and Communications on grant seeking and management, including proposal development, impact and evaluation reports, and funder engagement with programs.
·     Responsible for overseeing and developing the program management and coordination team in recruitment and retention, hiring, orientation, supervision, evaluation, and promotion.
·     Identify, cultivate, strengthen, and launch partnerships in education, health, and housing, among others, that advance FamilyWorks' mission and reach to families furthest from justice in North Seattle.
IMPACT AND EVALUATION ·     Lead the development of a comprehensive impact strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
·     Collaborate across teams to integrate impact considerations into program planning and development.
·     Design and implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness.
·     Establish and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the impact of programs.
·     Ensure data collection methods are rigorous and aligned with established best practices.
·     Conduct regular impact assessments to evaluate the success of programs and initiatives.
·     Analyze data and provide insights to inform decision-making, program refinement, and resource allocation.
·     Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather input on program impact and effectiveness and to communicate impact results in a clear and compelling manner, both internally and externally.
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP ·     Work with the Executive Director and leadership team to turn FamilyWorks' strategic plans into action and embed principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all programs.

·     Partner with the Executive Director to represent FamilyWorks with community, governmental, and private organizations to help create and implement government relations priorities, including advocacy strategy.

·     Partner with the Director of Development and Communications to support fundraising efforts, including developing strategies to engage new public and private funders and donors.

·     Keep Board members engaged in program successes, opportunities, risks, and impact through regular reporting, Board meeting attendance, and relationship-building efforts.
PROGRAMMATIC LEADERSHIP ·     Ensure programs are coordinated and aligned, and any barriers to collaboration among staff from different program units are reduced.

·     Implement a continuous quality improvement process, promote staff feedback, establish annual departmental and staff goals, metrics, and objectives, and monitor and evaluate program activities regularly.

·     Build and manage a highly effective site-based and mobile program management team that effectively delivers FamilyWorks' mission.
·     Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and mentor managers to build their skills and confidence.

·     Deploy resources efficiently and effectively toward organizational goals, working with managers to balance workload and effort, and provide regular feedback to spur continuous improvement in supervision and mentoring skills.
·     Provide oversight on effective volunteer management, training, policies, and operations.
INITIAL PRIORITIES After a successful 90-day onboarding period, a Director of Programs can expect the following focus areas for a successful first year in the role:
·     Securing and launching a research partnership and longitudinal study (funding has been secured) on the effectiveness of co-locating family services at affordable housing communities.
·     Implementing programmatic goals for FY 2025 of the strategic plan, including identified pivots and expansion areas for family services and food access programs.
·     Evaluation of the first year of the Participant Advisory Committee, a group of caregivers from the North Seattle area who provide input to FamilyWorks on designing programs and services that meet the needs of families in North Seattle.
·     Leading the organization through the finalization of a new database, transition of client data, and new data management protocols.

Qualifications The requirements below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required for this position.
·     Effective and persuasive leadership comfortable with all levels of staff, appointed and elected officials, public stakeholders, and others.

·     Experience in program development and implementation.
·     Proven management skills and ability to manage day-to-day operations.

·     Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight, or preparation of technical reports, and the presentation of information to the Board of Directors, government entities, and various committees/coalitions.

·     Strong interpersonal and public relations skills to work effectively with various officials, staff, program participants, community partners, and other stakeholders.
·     Experience with comprehensive fundraising strategies and campaigns, preferably in a similar operational role.
·     Experience with managing contracts, grants, budgets, and reporting.
·     Strong decision-making skills, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to think globally.
·     Cross-cultural competence relative to age, religion, race, culture, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
·     Strong organizational skills.

·     Ability to understand and manage high-profile, sensitive, or nuanced situations.
Respectful and accessible leadership style that is comfortable with situations of ambiguity and able to relate to a wide range of program participants and other constituents.

·     Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment within general policy guidelines.

Education / Experience ·     Master's degree preferred in non-profit management, public administration, social work, or a related field.
·     8+ years of progressively responsible planning for a non-profit, including program management, budgeting, staffing, and compliance.

·     Demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in a positive and engaging manner.

·     Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with some evening/weekend events as required.
While onsite presence is critical for success in this position, this is a hybrid position with the opportunity to work from home up to two days a week, in coordination with senior management schedule.
