Range: $130,000 - $150,000
This is a blend of technical systems and IT operations, as well as operational and management leadership. The Director of Technical Operations is the glue of our flagship studio experience and conduit to the larger network of Synapse connected studios. This position ensures the entire Synapse ecosystem is premium and consistent; delivering service, quality, and dependability across all staff and clientele experience. This role reports to the Head of Production.
Responsibilities:Continually develop, implement, and maintain scalable processes for technical VP operations.Work with flagship and certified studios to uphold the highest level of IT standards and support, with focus on uniformity and efficiency.Oversee and advise on best practices in preparing tech for upcoming/active projects.Guide studio network evolving technical needs alongside Heads of Studio and tech teams to vet and promote adoption of evolving software and hardware tools.Identify and coordinate remedy for issues which occur in active project pipelines (user error vs software vs hardware).Manage global staff and technology partners remotely to swiftly address respective local studio IT needs.Grow the existing program to constantly improve client experiences and ease of use among staff.Collaborate with colleagues to promote consistency across the organization and coordinate accurate support systems per department.Speahead integration partnership growth in relevant territories.Develop organizational tools and documentation for technical and operational efforts.Represent Synapse at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, showcasing expertise and building relationships with potential partners and clients.Work with the Virtual Production Supervisors to assess strengths and weaknesses of current virtual production offerings.Partner with CTO on company technical standards and roadmaps.Skills + Qualifications:Expertise in virtual production systems and IT infrastructure management, with hands-on experience ensuring scalability, consistency, and reliability across large-scale production environments.Virtual Production Supervisor or Operator experience.Strong knowledge of network connectivity, cloud-based systems, and distributed workflows to support global studios and remote teams.Ability to develop, implement, and maintain scalable processes for operational efficiency in a fast-paced, evolving industry.Advanced understanding of hardware/software integration, particularly in the context of virtual production technologies such as LED volumes, real-time rendering engines, and motion capture systems.Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving issues across the entire pipeline, including user error, software bugs, and hardware failures.IT/Managed Service Provider experience.Proficient in UnrealEngine and VP/Volume Hardware knowledge.Proficient with remote management and communication tools.Live event or broadcast experience is a plus.
