The Director, Clinical Decision Support & Quality, is responsible for the effective operation of the Clinical Quality Department. As a member of the management team, the Director will lead this service line and the team's commitment to quality, service, growth and fiscal accountability and will be held accountable for the accomplishment of these results and targets. The individual assumes responsibility for the support of the Quality Management System and serves as a resource to the Board of Directors, Management Team and Medical Staff affiliated with UnityPoint Health – Des Moines. Ensures that processes needed for the Quality Management System (QMS) are established, implemented and maintained. Supports and coordinates the Management Review Committee, Quality Management Oversight Committee (QMOC) and the Critical Event Committee (CEC), assuring oversight committees are actively engaged and informed on appropriate elements of the QMS. Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations. Remains current on law/regulation changes, recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance. Acts as a resource to committees/workgroups regarding regulatory standards and interpretation. Assures the accuracy of clinical data collection and submissions to outside entities (CMS & various registries). Assures that efficient/effective data gathering procedures, methods and systems avoid duplication of effort and the generation of nonessential data. Shares reports with the Board of Directors, medical staff leaders and hospital management on the performance of the Quality Management System and any need for improvement. Minimum Requirements Preferred or Specialized Education: Master's degree in related field.
Experience: Five years of progressively more responsible management positions in hospital, outpatient, or clinical environment. Has demonstrated excellent results in improving performance and quality. Must have demonstrated experience as an excellent communicator, manager, and developer of people and programs.
License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Certification in Healthcare Quality, Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Understanding of quality and process improvement tactics and methodologies
· Basic understanding of statistics, control charts, run charts etc. and ability to provide analysis of data.
· Read, write and speak fluent English and ability to communicate with various disciplines/roles.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including periodic article preparation and formal presentations.
Other: · Work may require travel to other UPH facilities and will require travel to all UPHDM hospitals using a UPH vehicle, rental or own vehicle.
· Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
